I was thinking about trying to get a hold of another mini spare wheel and using the pair of them on the front of the car for drag racing...like cheap skinnies. Where can I find a normal tire that fits the 17x4 rim? I dont think that I could use the existing tire could I? It is only supposed to be used under 50 mph right?

because it works:) and providing you change out the spare tires for tires that are designed for going fast, its also far less ghetto:turbonaug

I run 2 spares with M&H frontrunners like many do. My rear drag rims are also black to match.

So how big a difference in your et using skinny tires?

+1. Just change out the tires for the M&H, they are pricey but going down a drag strip at 100+ on spares may be more pricey in the long run.

Mine shaves 50lbs off the front end alone by changing the tires. The car has been too inconsistant this year to try and gauge an et difference though however my best time has come on the skinnies.

hard to say, really. my last PB was 11.7@117. that was in florida in january with stock 17s on the front. the next time i raced using the skinnies was in june/july back in jersey. was running 11.9s@114ish. then i ran 11.56@117 in october with the skinnies. each time i had progressivily better 60's though. so to be honest, i dont think they helped me all that much. but every little bit adds up:)

maybe I am living dangeously, but I figure that 50mph on the spare tire is a sustained speed (and a conservative number) so that a few seconds at 100+ is safe. I have been using the spare wheel/tire combo as my skinnys for some time, 10-15 runs trapping 120mph.

Probably dangerous, but it's your car and it's you. If you take out the guy running in the other lane then shame on you for being more ghetto than the rest of us, lol. If you're going to run them consistently it's probaby best to put some high speed tires on.

what is true is that a speed rating for a tire is the speed sustained for one hour.
