well my 1st and only pistol was stolen. i started to pack for moving and was getting my rifles and pistol together and noticed my range bag for my pistol was really light. went through it, and my other range bags and it is GONE. i called the police, filed a report, and gave them the serial number for the pistol. the pistol was a Kimber Stainless TLE Custom. the bad part is we just bought our house and wont have the funds to get another for a while.
Sorry to hear that man. I know how you feel. I had my car broken into and a Glock 27 stolen about 3 years ago. They left the ipod, but stole a broken cell phone, the CHANGE out of the console, and the pistol. I was so pissed.....

just out of curiosity, where was your range bag and who had access to it?

Well at least now you can buy a Sig and come out of it with a better gun.

i was living in an apt complex. so anyone who worked at the apt complex ( ie: maintanence, pest control ) had a key to get into the apt.

i like sigs, they are a great gun. but to be honest i liked my kimber more. it fit me very well and i never had a malfunction with it with over a couple thousand rounds through it.

Since the manager is required to give a 24 hour notice prior to entering your apartment (or providing it), who was the door opened up for/to?
ALso, seeing as how you either knew or suspected that the manger would enter your apartment while you were not home, why wasn't the weapon locked up?
Cold hard lesson there.
BTW, if the gun was used to commit a crime (i.e. murder) prior to your reporting it stolen, guess who the prime suspect is?

if someone is going to take steal something from somewhere, i dont think they are going to tell their manager that they are going to be in that place. i think they would just make a qucik stop by. the pistol had a cable lock on it and was in my closet. its just my girlfriend and i that lived there and no kids are ever around.

May I suggest a gun safe be your next purchase?
I would feel so sick if a gun of mine was stolen: one more in the criminals' hands, and one more excuse for the gun ban bandwagon.
Anyone veterans remember a lost sensitive item search? uggg
Sorry to hear dude.

My point is, otehr than you and any others living there, there should be only one point of contact for keys to your place, typically the manager. Maintenace people, pest control contractors, etc., they do not have thier own set of keys to each apartment. ANd when they are allowed in, the manager should be there as an escort.
So the thief is either somebody you and/or your girl friend let in or somebody the manager let in. If in the case of the manager, you should have been given notice they would be accessing your apartment (or DID access it in the case of emergency, such as flooding).

Not true in the case of my old apartment complex. They'd put a notice in the common area saying they were coming to change the filters this week and you'd never know they were there. This was commonplace and I never saw the manager entering anyone's apartment with the maintenance guy.

My old apartment complex would knock on the door twice. If you didn't open it then they came in. I almost shot a repair man doing that.

I could see that being potentially dangerous for them if they didn't knock loud enough to wake you up for a nap or were in the shower and you come out to to hear someone in another part of your place that you know is not supose to be there

thats basically the way my apt complex is. a safe is going to be my next purchase. we just moved into our new house last sunday and the first thing i did was change all the locks.
i completley understand what you are saying about it being stolen and it is a hard lesson learned.

After that they started leaving a notice on my door two days in advance of any work.
