Went to the range yesterday and shot the first 100 rnds through my gun. Everything went well but I only loaded 10 rounds each time. Today I tried to load 19 rounds into the mag just to see and the mag would not lock into the gun. Anyone else have this problem? I did not slam it in but put a decent amount of pressure. Am I just being a pansy or could there be a problem?

Pansy

Edit: It's also easier if you have the slide open.

Now that I've left California and can actually buy a XDm, I'd like more details. How do you like it? I've got a XD45, but am considering the XDm in 9mm.

I like it alot so far. I have only put 100 rounds through it. It is comfortable for me to grip and the first 100 rounds didnt have any issues. I also like the easy disassembly which makes it easy to clean and its nice to have the 19 rnds.

I'll give it a shot with the slide open next time.

Always give the mag you just inserted a firm smack on the palm to ensure it's seated.

Scurvy, does VA have a limit on the number of rounds a magazine can carry? In Cali, the original mags from my 45 got replaced with 10-round mags.

your magazine issue is normal, it is because when the slide is closed, and you push it up, the top round gets pressed down a wee bit further (since its going against the slide) know how hard it was to get $19 in? well its more to get it down that little bit. hence when the slide is open it slides right in and clicks.

grab your gun and watch between the slide and frame just above the slide stop and slowly push up, you will see it pressing down your bullets.

if it didnt push them down, they wouldnt spring up when the slide is back to chamber it!

I have the XDm40, and want the 9mm to go with it, great weapon.

so next time, slide it home like a man, i promise you wont hurt the gun ;)

holy shit, that's totally going to change the face of the forum. I can think of like 10 threads off the top of my head where that would be very useful.

I am in the Herndon/Reston area.

You can go to Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantilly which is okay, not great. 25yds max, ventilation system is very meh but it has a gun store attached so that's kind of a plus. They also rent.

Then there's the NRA range is fairfax which is the 2nd nicest range I've ever been to (Scottsdale Gun Club in Az is the mexxa of gun stores/ranges). Super clean, great ventilation, 50 yds, no caliber restrictions. The range masters are great at making sure no one acts stupid.

The NRA range was the only one I was aware of. Thanks!

Just to note had the slide open today when shooting and 19 rnds slide right in no problems.
