I've read a little about nitrus and it seems to be a good alternative to always-on forced induction (such as turbo and superchargers). I've heard running about 75 wet or dry is fairly safe in an LSx engine. Is it possible to get a system set up to give you 2 levels of spray (eg. 75 and 150)? If so, how much would a system like that cost? Also, how safe would it be to run in an 05 Goat, say using the 75 shot a couple times a week (maby), and the 150 every once in a blue moon? What mods might go along wiith this system as well and how much money will they cost? I know that's a lot of questions but maby someone can enlighten me. Thx in advance, guys.

Also, how would a system like this run in conjuntion with new heads/cam? + LT's and CAI?

You can easily set up a dual stage system on your car. Some people go with a dry kit for one stage and a wet shot for the other, or do 2 stages of the same kind of shot. If you are spraying much over 100 hp most would recommend going wet. All it will take is a second set of solenoids and you need to decide how you want to activate it. Do you want each one running off of a WOT switch and window switch? Do you want to manually want to activate each stage (push button)? Another option is to have a single stage running on a progressive controller so you can adjust how much you want to spray and how hard it hits.

Nitrous can be completely safe as long as you have all of the right equipment and set it up right. You want to have a bottle warmer, window switch, fuel pressure guage, nitrous pressure guage, and possibly a fuel pressure safety switch.

If you want heads, cam, and N2O you are going to need to modify the drivetrain to support the power. New driveshaft, harrop diff cover, some suspension mods, good clutch, etc. Not to mention the extra fuel requirements of the car.

i have the zex kit and i have been running the 125 shot for about a month refilled 5-6 time so far on the 125hp shot and no problems at all except the stock clutch is showing signs of going but hey what can you expect stock sucks but the zex kit 75-125 is great i run it with the WOT switch its better that way make sure if you get it you stay away from rev limiter and the T/C is OFF other than that enjoy and have tons of fun LS1 love the bottle

thx for the feedback guys. How much would just a system by itself (and supporting upgrades to run and keep it safe) run me? Have there been any hints of trouble with 05's running N2O? Thx in advance guys

For a completely loaded wet kit with all of the goodies for a single shot, you can go upwards of $1K. A dry shot would run you just a hair less. To create a second stage you will need more line, another solenoid (2 if you go wet), some fittings, and another jet. You will also want to put your car on a dyno and make sure the air/fuel looks good and you are not getting any detonation. You may need some timing pulled, and the fuel tables may need to be adjusted if you go with a dry kit.

If you are not against buying used you can get all a complete single stage system for $500-600 with all of the extras included. I am personally a fan of NX or TNT for wet kits, and if you want to go dry just get the NOS 5177 and add some extra's to it.

Look at some of the sponsors on the side there like Tbyrne and keep an eye out for sales/specials. Also you may want to price N2O in your area and see what it is running. Locally I have a good shop that charges only $2.25 lb, whereas I have heard of others paying upwards of $4 lb.

I spent 700 bucks for a TNT wet nitrous kit from MotorSport Technoligies here in Houston Texas. I was going to install it myself but was to lazy and paid them another 700 or so for a install with a rpm window switch, a dyno tune, and a full bottle.

My car went from a best of 13.44 et to a best so far of 12.65. I need some better tires now and maybe a looser convertor to get my 60' times down.

Im considering nitrous as well, but I have never used a nitrous kit before. I was going to go with the STS turbo system, but I have had the car for almost 6 months now and have had ONE race so far. Plus its my daily driver. So I figure I'll go with a nitrous kit since I dont race that much.

Im not sure to go with a dry or wet kit. After seeing that yellow ZO6 burn to a crisp due to a wet nitrous kit, I have to admit, it scares me. I cant afford something like that happen to me. So should I go with a wet kit regardless? Was that just a freak accident? Most likely I'll have todd at pro dyno install and tune it for me.

I don't personally know of any yellow ZO6 burning to a crisp. Did it catch on fire?, or fry the motor? Either case I doubt it was because of the wet kit, it was probably more due to an incorrect installation (sorry) or an isolated bad part. If installing a wet kit added up to your catching your car on fire, I don't think they would be selling many kits. :bomb:

Theres a vid on the net of a yellow Z06 at the track catching fire because of a wet nitrous kit, the car was ruined, and yes prolly due to a bad install. I just cant afford that to happen to me!
