So i take my summer tires out of storage to prep them and make sure they are ok and good to go for the season to come. I have about 3K on them and a good bit of life to the tread of them. The Front Right tire has a crack in the side wall and the rest have dry spots on them where it looks like it is about to crack. I have used them for one season and this is what happens... When they were on before they were great in the corners and they were good off the line. I have never auto crossed or have even been to the strip with them.
I took them into my tire guy and he said Dunlop will not warranty there performance tires. I requested to have a rep come out and take a look since it was obvious that it was a fluke with the tire... all in all what a shitty day!

sorry to hear about this man. They just got 1000$ from me.
Ive heard nothing but great reviews so far and no complaints on this.
Hopefully they will do something for you and hopefully it doesnt become a common issue.
You should take some pics so we can see how bad it is.
Were did you store them? any weathering?

That's a bummer to hear. Those were on my 'short list' to replace my RE-01Rs when the time comes. Good luck.

Those are great tires! Where and how did you store them? You can't just pull off your summer tires and let them sit on the garage floor or throw them in the shed. There are a few precautions that should Always be followed when storing tires:
* If your tires are stored mounted on wheels, keep them inflated to a pressure of 15 PSI.
* Ideally, do not store them in an upright position, but stack them laying flat on their side. If this is impossible, leave them upright and rotate them about once a month to prevent the formation of a flat spot.
* Protect them with plastic bags thick or dark enough to protect the tires from ambient light.
* Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity. Above all, refrain from storing them outside, where they will likely be subjected to temperature swings and high humidity. IMO a garage that is not climatically controlled is the equivalent to "outside"
* Do not leave them on a moist or greasy floor; isolate them (a wooden plank works well).
* Keep them at least six feet away from electric motors and radiators. These devices generate ozone which oxidizes tire rubber and deteriorates the tires.

Well if we are getting that specific, to go by your list... They were each in there own individual zip up plastic bag inside one more zip up bag. They were stored on top of each other and they were deflated to what i felt to be appropriate. they were in the corner of my garage in front of my car. My garage is heated and the floor is painted and very clean

I just purchased z-1 stars is there a difference between star spec and the z-1? I hope this doesn't happen to mine. You can take solace in the fact atleast they were $100 cheaper then anything else. Yet I suspect they would do something for you. Call dunlop direct and explain what happened they might see it differently then morons who sold them to you. I have bought things in the past and had seller tell me there is nothing he can do. Yet called manufacturer and got satisfaction that way. Just my 2 cents.

Well then it looks like you have every right to be upset. I wasn't trying to bash. It's just that in most cases people would come on here knocking a good product for a reason that in reality was at no fault of the product. It appears that you did your best to protect your investment and actually more than most individuals would. I would definitely approach the manufacturer about the issues your having with their tires.

This must just be a rare occurrence of a defective product. I've had the Z1's on my car for just over a year now. I had them sitting on the car all winter long while my car sat in a carport (enclosed on all sides except the front, so it is exposed to the cold weather) and they still look fine, even though the tires are supposed to be stored in a room temperature environment.
I autocrossed the heck out of these tires last year, and they still had amazing grip this weekend going on some back-road cruises with my friends, to test out the new Xa suspension setup. They're practically bald and on the wear-bars, but they still gripped the road great.
I'm sorry for your luck, but it's cool that they're replacing them for you. Hopefully this doesn't sway people from the tire, because I really do think they are fantastic for cornering for the price...maybe not the best for drag racing though. lol.
