View Full Version : Ruff's 278's on PBM ...

I have got my wheel decision down to the Ruff 278's. 18's 275/40 with fender roll.
However, I can't decide what I want to do with the colors. I do want to have the dark scheme with the red painted lip (I have red interior).
What do you think would look the best?
Gun metal with red lip or hyperblack with red lip? Anyone have any pictures? I couldn't seem to find any with my specifics.
It almost seems like the hyperblack would kill the flair of the wheels.

I'll let you know Saturday. My 278's are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I have the hyperblacks.

Hyperblack 278's in a staggard 18" with 1" drop coilovers up front, and 5/16 drag spring out back.
No contest. Do the hyperblack.

I think the hyperblack looks the best

Very nice. I didn't realize the hyper black was so... not dark. I don't think a red lip would look all that good on light rims on a dark car though. Why are rims so hard to picture?
Edit: Black Devil, red glowing interior? Very cool. How did one accomplish this?

Chris White did them for me. Upgraded to a 2005,6 cluster and JHP pod face with oil PSI at the same time. Could have done the lighting myself. But why? He did a good job for me.

I'm looking at these too, except the hyperblack with the chrome lip. I like the idea of the black/satin, but at least in pictures its too much, wish I could see one in person on pbm.
So is it just me, or does the hyper black on Black Devil's goat look completely different then the "hyper black" on this vqmotoring special edition rim?

Yeah that is what threw me off. The sun must be coming in from that side and lighting those baby's up because I was incredibly confused at first. I thought he had hyper silver. I think that thread is exactly what VQ said he had the last set of.

It might be the lighting of a grey day. The 278's that are pictured on my car are in fact from VQ.

Gotcha, so they definitely have that graphite look up close in the middle section?

Those look great! They still totally don't look like hyperblack though, they just look polished, is it just the lighting? Do you notice that in person?

It's the lighting. I have them on my GTO, they're definitely a hyper black. However at certain angles in certain light they shine making them look lighter.
They look great on goats :).

As much fun as my 112 is, dollar for dollar, Ruff 278s are the better upgrade. Seriously. I'm that happy with them and they get lots of compliments. I'm looking to buy 06 tails and seeing Spyral's car reminds me to look harder.

Thanks man, the 06 tails really set the car off. Wait until my Monaro VZ front bumper is on in 2 weeks, then the car will be almost complete.

It is totally the lighting. You can see the hyperblack in person a lot better than pictures. The rims are just bad ass. The rears have a huge lip on them, see the picture below.

Plus, how's the upkeep on them, easy to keep clean? What about in between the spokes, etc.

To hijack my own thread with a few more questions about your ride, what tint% Spyral?
Spyral
03-31-2009, 09:34 PM
My R278's are 18's. The tint is 30% and the upkeep on the rims is easy. I went and used some jetseal on them (waxed and sealed) before I put them on, it keeps them easy to clean.
Thanks for all the compliments..wait until the Monaro conversion is done in 2 weeks or so!

Nice. One further question. Did you get the chrome lip? It's really hard to tell in these pictures, though it does look a tad bit lighter then the center star.
Spyral

No, these are the polished lip, the center star is hyper black.

Nice. Now I just need these guys to get them instock, and find me a set of 275's and a fender roller + drag bags! Should give me the clearance I need.

I'm just going to have someone do it (cut em), I'm too nervous about rolling the fenders myself!
The search for tires is going to be a pita now... too much to choose from.
