Today on ESPN John Clayton confirmed that at the most recent NFL Owners meeting...all 32 Owners voted for a change in the Draft order starting next year. Things will stay the same for the Super Bowl Champ and Runner up (32 & 31 respectively), however there won't be a situation like this year...where New Orleans makes the Playoffs, but still gets to select ahead of 16 non-playoff teams. The idea is that the Wild Card Teams won't be able to draft any higher than the 21st draft position, this may close a loophole that teams exploit.
Commisioner Goddell announced that he is for lengthening the season to 17 or 18 games. What this means...more real football. The feeling so far has been shorten the pre-season (taking away 2 or 3 games) and possibly starting the season earlier. The down side as far as the Players is concerned is...a longer more grueling season.
I think there is an opportunity to here for the NFL, meaning finally get "REAL" Farm Teams in the form of an NFL Developmental League. There is a ton of talent that doesn't get drafted nor looked at because the Player doesn't have a good agent. There are a ton of Colleges out there that don't get seen because they are not on TV. There is too much talent that can be covered, a Developmental League will give these guys a chance...then they can move on with their lives if they don't make the grade, the other things is...guys like TO will shut their mouths and play the game.
Some people will elude to NFL Europe...problem is, it cost too much, and it's not "their" game, it's ours! Let's cultivate it.
