Okay folks before I go selling all willy nilly, I was curious to know if lower receivers are registered under specific names.
I bought a lower receiver and as you all know, background checks are mandatory for this specific part. Well I have a fully built lower including a 6-position stock and I was wondering, if I sell this to someone, what are the legal processes of the transactions, if any, that I should follow? Anybody I should call? Transfer papers?

All you have to do is take the person's $ and give it to them. Might be smart to write down their information and keep it around though. What state are you in?

Florida is pretty close to Texas when it comes to gun laws. No registration required so just take the cash and get a recept with the S/N on it from the buyer. Or a copy of thier D/L, and that is just to CYA.

by law,
buyer has to:
be over 18
FL resident
not a known felon (or otherwise unable to legally purchase a firearm)
a lot of people like to do a "Bill of Sale" (like me)
i basicly have a paper that says the above and what firearm, that the buyer signs. if the buyer doesn't want a paper trail they have to show me a CCW before i consider that.(which i have also)

I don't do any paperwork when transferring a gun face to face. The less the .gov knows the better and the less they can trace the better. They have no recourse when you say you sold a gun since no paperwork is required at all.

Hmm..I'm hearing both ways. I assume I should do a type of "bill of sale" type of transaction as a way to practice CYA SANman.

I would do the bill of sale that way if it is stolen from the person that buys it and its used in a robbery or murder and they come looking for you, you can produce paperwork proving that it was sold. It also wouldn't hurt to maybe get a copy of a DL and black out the SSN. Not sure how the DLs look were you live but ALs don't have SSN anymore. Just my .02

i'de just sell it face to face in my own state, odds are in your favor that nothing will happen, and if it does, the burden of proof is on the police, not you. (ar's make shitty weapons to mug people or rob places, its very obvious what you have and your intentions)

+1 on this. in michigan where (the canadian antigun B*#@h) Jennifer Granholm is queen, private long gun sales are to the general public- 18 and not a felon. if it were mine for sale, i'd ask- " are you over 18?" then, "are you a felon?". answer them correctly, and you get gun, I get cash. No bill of sale.
it's one of the 'loopholes the socialists in DC would like to eliminate. it is not a loophole, per se. it is simply a system built on someone's word, which makes it impossible to police.
maybe someday we can all have "firearms cards" like in Illinois. I can't wait.
