A prototype slammed the GTO-R into the wall, destroying the suspension..
It's a shame, the car is brand new, and looked great!
Here is some info on the car: http://www.americancarfans.com/news.cfm/newsid/205 0509.002

Yeah that really sucked.............the 01 DP car had to do a stop and go penalty pass in pit lane for it.........But TRG had a good run, they were up to second at one point. I feel bad to them. I understand the hard work and time it take to get a car like that up to the front.
I wish them well in the Next race
there was 4 GTO iin that race
2 GTO-R
and
2 GTO's
Yeah, i saw that also.

Yea, kinda sucked, that was a good looking car. Did you see how messed up that blue rim got? I can't believe they had to put a restrictor on the car in order for it too compete in that class. The driver was about to cry when he was interviewed... I guess it was very emotional for him.

That was an unfortunate ending to a fantastic showing for a debut race. However, with the car being developed by Pratt & Miller and the strongest driver line up in GT, I expect many wins over the next few years. An exciting prospect for this sports car fan who happens to be buying a GTO!

They have restricted the GTO's in World Challenge also. but the corvettes and cadillacs have the same restrictions running the LS2 motor .. I think it is like a 40% restrictor plate. But I could be wrong :judge:

I believe the 2 GTO's were Grand am Cup cars, and the GTO=R are the PRATT & MILLER GT# car built for the Rolex GT series

I believe one of the GTO's was loosing oil during the first 10 mins of the race. he was out quick.

It wa the #23 car and look like it broke an oil line. They didn't put out the yellow flag to clean it up! A few DP cars almost wreck from hitting the oil slick.
I couldn't believe Scott Pruett would make that kind of mistake hitting the #65 GTO-R. I guess those DP have a pretty big blind spot!

All four cars were developed for the GA GT class, but the GTO.R's are a factory effort designed by Pratt & Miller.
The other two GTO's are privateer efforts that were developed last year. They are both 04's.

Me too! :driving:
I always enjoyed the C5R but being a GTO owner, it's great to see the factory and The Racers Group build these cars. LeMans next year?
Also, (to everyone here) remember that some may not have seen the race yet. I DVR the races and watch them later.
Put specifics, like "just smashed" in the body of the thread, not in the subject line. Those of us who watch the races later want to see the results ourselves.

I have never been to a less impressive show in my life. The car got wrecked, that's racin'. What my bitch is: I paid $15 to get into the 'Fan Zone' where there was nothing but the Nascar souvenir tent, then not ten min later the stopped taking tickets and just opened it up. You couldn't get near the pits like you could at the Rolex 24.
And where were the GTO-R goodies? I couldn't find anything. No T-shirts, hats, nothing! I'm hoping I missed it, but I'm thinking that it didn't exist.
Was anyone else there? Did you see a Pontiac display?
I'm really disappointed.
