Anyone heard of this? I watched a few videos on youtube and then found this news report (or whatever) on it.
Rather impressive.

Obviously not the end all, but one layer in the cake that is home defense. Not to mention if someone is trying to kick in your door, plenty of time to get the shottie or firearm of your choice.
Could probably clean it before they actually kicked the door in.
Checked the website, looks like 1 set of the armor is like $130. A little spendy, but considering the kick the door in method is pretty popular, might be a good investment.
thats pretty cool but seems like that is a lot of money for what it is

also read that government is to outlaw these!! reason being,,,police have a more difficult time of breaking down a door when needed!!!!!
just kidding but anyone surprised if they were to do that?

I was thinking the same thing. What was weird is I was halfway through the segment and thought, "I wonder what would happen if they tried a police batterin.....oooooh, cool, they are trying one."
Might get one of those for the laundry room door from the garage to the house and the front door.

maybe 15 years ago, i rented a dumpy little apartment that was 1/2 of a very old and very small house and it was in a questionable neighborhood. it had a decent front door, but an extremely anemic back door. the back door was in the kitchen and had just a tiny little slide lock that had been kicked in several times. the door handle did not even lock. the cheat-skate land lord said he would no pay for a lock because nobody would break in. so i fixed it myself. because i had zero money at the time, one day at work i cut up some large angle iron and welded it so that it would tightly hold a 2x6 between the door jambs. i used 4" lag bolts and wrapped a towel around the 2x6 so it would stay tight across the door. when the door was "barred" with that dropped in 2x6, nobody was kicking or breaking that damn door down. for a back door or a basement door, i would do the same thing again if i felt there was a threat.

I usually just install my locks upside down and that fools 50% of robbers.

That is news channel3 in Memphis, I remember that segment,
I know of 2 people that have one, it works, and as demonstrated its only as strong as your door.
Checked my door jambs and my front door is re-enforced when I replaced the door back in 05. I highly recomment it.
I also recomend steel framed doors, if you are in the market.
