That was exactly my thought when I opened this thread.
But you know what? GOOD. More guns in the hands of responsible Americans, can't be a bad thing!

Ive been looking for this gun for a while. My local Dick's gets them in, and they leave that day. For some reason they can never speical order it for me but I finally got lucky. It was like $350 and some change out the door.
Cant wait to shoot it. I need to get a side "holster" or whatever to hold some shells on the side, maybe a sight too.

I would get a 500, but i already have an 870 and i feel like those are rivals haha. It would be like a Packer fan cheering for the Bears, or Yankee fan cheering for Boston....just doesnt feel right haha.
MB 500 is cool tho. I just thought the 870 was better for trap. HD tho...i think base model for base model the 500 > 870

Mossy VS 870 is like Ford VS GM. I like GMs and 870's, but others have great luck choosing otherwise, so ?:hbang:

I chose the 500 over the 870 because of a few reasons:
First of all price. Everytime I went looking for my 500, they had 2 or 3 870s on the shelf (one in 18.5 inch for home defense and the stock version of yours Tommy) and they were all around 50-60 dollars more. The guy told me they are virtually the same for a base model shotgun but I just didnt want to pay that much more for it.
Second, how many shots does yours hold Tommy? It looks like 6 or less; my Persuader is an 8 shot which I consider a plus.
Lastly, my gun is designed more for home defense than trap shooting; and that is the main purpouse for my gun. I will take it trap shooting for fun, and I will probally get addictided like you and have to pick up a trap specific shotgun :).
I do like your stock/grip combo too, Ill have to look into something like that. Does any one know where to get shell holsters for pretty cheap?? Also any good shotgun shooting ranges in the Orlando/Central Florida area? A quick search online didnt yeild to much...
I love my 500 it is a 28" smooth shooter.

yeah, if i were getting it for home defense, I might have gone with the 500. stock for stock i think it is a better HD gun. Im not exactly sure how many rounds it holds. With the plug in, its like 2+1, but i never put it in so i think its like 5 or 6+1. I dont really need anything for home defense where i live, its pretty yuppy, I bought it strickly for shooting trap. I did get a great deal on it tho, Bass Pro shop priced matched Cabelas and i got it for $279

One factor that made me get the 870 over the 500 was that I thought the foregrip slide on the 500s I looked at had a lot of twist type play in them. Probably works fine, but I just didn't like that part of it. The Remington 870 was a more solid feel, yet still racked smooth and easy.
