Definitely the ay that engine is supose to be facing. I hate working on FWD engines. PITA.
Whats up with that air intake:confused:
Yeah, I too don't know what up with GM not getting Utes in the US. Those things rule
It's because GM's deal with UAW is that GM can only import up to 18,000 vehicles per year. That's why they capped the GTO at no more than 18,000 per year.

To bad Buick cant bring that over here. That could be the next Grand National
Lots of V6's have the intake box exactly like that. My 02 Maxima has a very similar airbox/intake.

No hoodscoop, I was just wondering why we don't get a set up like that to get more outside air like that one.
It is most likely a clearance issue but just wanted to point it out.

the air intake is being replaced with a larger opening CAI soon. i think they designed it so that any silt sucked in would deposit in the bottom rather than going straight through. who knows tho...

The pipe that points out so outside air comes in, instead we get hot engine air being sucked in the way the CV8/GTO intake is designed.
I am sure it is just a clearance thing, they didn't have the room to bring direct the intake like that of your CV6.

GTO engine bay pic, to show the difference in intake.
