View Full Version : A new CSL option?

I found this company advertising on craigslist, and then through research, I found them on ebay too. They are selling a set of NEW staggered 19" silver CSLs for $645 shipped!! The fronts are 8" with a +40 offset, the rears are 9.5" with also a +40 offset. The 8" should be a great fit for the goat and I'm thinking about going with them at all four corners. I wanted a darker color, but for that price and fit, I can live with silver. The company is called blustarwheels.
Anyone have these? Also, what are my options as far as the best priced set of 19s goes, non staggered. What did everybody pay, and where did you buy them from?

honestly, I don't see what you guys are talking about as far as these looking different. What looks different about them? and what you mean by "current CSLs" ? I thought there is more than one option/source on CSL replicas. Multiple vendors.
Where did everyone get their "current CSL"s?

here are a couple of pics with them on a car. Again, I don't see how these look different than other CSLs. I thought CSL replica is CSL replica, no matter who makes them. A replica is a direct copy. I'm I wrong?

hmm, I have noticed that some are more concave than others. Who makes the most concave 8 or 8.5" ? I'm not going staggered if I go with CSLs, no matter which brand you go with, the 9.5" are a bad fit. So i'm going with 8s all around.

I believe modB and EAS also have CSL replicas along with VM. Anyone else? And which ones are the best?

Velocity Motoring FTW!!!! Their customer service was awesome for me and I recommend them to anyone. Their products are top notch as well. Dont skimp out when it comes to wheels as those are some of the hardest working parts on the car, minus the motor and tranny. Get the RIGHT wheel and the car will hadnel perfectly, get the WRONG wheel (or cheap version) and you will pay dearly for that decision. Just my .02, though

I have 9.5" and they fit perfect, Had to roll the fenders but that was for the 275's. Are you looking to keep your fenders stock ? Also +1 for Velocity Motoring, service was awesome they shipped my Csl's within hours of taking my order and had them a few days later.

If you are going to get 8's or 8.5's all around you won't get that concave look in the back that eleven posted. They are very similar looking to the other CSL rep's out there.

There's no way a 9.5" with a 45 offset is a perfect fit. Even with rolled fenders. I'm currently running a 9" wheel with a 48 offset. My fenders are ground halfway down, it doesn't rub, but it's not "perfect". Your setup woul stick out another 10mm past mine, I think that would be too much for me. I'd like to do some suspension work, and I don't want to run into trouble with wheels.
That being said, I absolutely love your car! It was one of the final nails in the coffin for me on my decision to sell the vortex and go CSL. I also have the WT splitter and your car looks amazing with CSLs :) makes it very tempting to go staggered lol

That was my point in making this thread. If i were to go 8s all around, the concave factor is eliminated. So the rear wheel is not a decision maker. As far as front wheel goes, do you see any difference between the blustar ones and the VM ones? The 8" width makes the blustar a better fit in a non staggered steup. I'm going to call and find out what they weight. VM is 25lbs, correct?

here is another angle of the 9.5, hope it helps if you have any other questions PM and I'll try to help. Not sure about the weight, but 25lbs sounds like what I remember. Good luck.

Most staggered TSW setups are +45 in the rear with 9.5" wide rims. Mine are - and while my quarter panel lips are cut down to almost nothing, I've had no problems with rubbing whatsoever with a properly sized tire.
Note that last part. Some people try to fit 275/35/19s. These people are daft. 275/30/19 is the right size.

Absolutely gorgeous. Is your rear suspension stock? mine sits a lot lower than that.

You bastages are making this though lol. I have 275/30s right now on a 9" tsw with a 48 offset. My rear lips are down to the weld spot welds. It doesn't rub but it's right there. I don't see how another 10mm is going to clear. I don't want to grind the lips any more.
here is the pic of the 9" with 48 offset, you think I got room for 10 more MMs?

You're sort of missing the bigger picture.
You're not going to be running 10mm more tire. You're going to be running 10mm more wheel with the same size tire. Your contact patch - the only dimension besides offset that you care about in terms of clearance at the quarter panel - is not going to be impacted measurably.

good point. So I wonder how much tire will actually stick out with the 10mm more wheel there.
I'm starting to lean towards staggered again lol But there is no way in hell i'm raising the rear or installing drag bags. I'd like to do a pedders street 2 or something similar in the future with a slight drop. Do you think it will clear with staggered CSLs, 275s and half ground lips?
Man I haven't even picked the color yet :(

If your lips are trimmed enough and you run a tire that isn't naturally wide at the shoulder, you'll be fine. Like I said - I'm running what you're considering, lowered, no bags, and no problems.

I dont see anything wrong with the wheel your looking at. Looks real nice from my chair. As far as "fitment", the front will be fine, I have 19x8.5" +40 with 245/35/19's on the front and have ZERO issues, (car has Eibachs, so its dropped a bit). As far as the rears, not sure if you will have issues there? Try getting them shaved to a +43 and run a 265/30/19...... JMO. I love all the "negative" opinions of those that still have the "stockers" on ......... BUY WHAT YOU LIKE, ITS YOUR CAR! Goodluck :)
Thanks :)
If I go staggered, I'm going with VM because of the better offset and more concave look. But if I don't go staggered, I see nothing wrong with the blustars. $1000 vs $650 is a big difference!

Hey bro, I would look into the Forgestar F14s if you want to go with a CLS rep different that the VMRs. They're offered in 3 colors and decent sizes. VQ motoring sells them now too.

Best bet is to call guillen at velocity motoring yourself, he's very helpful. Tell him mike with the blk tt goat sent ya, he will take care of you. He will get you center caps and all, they are usually hard to come by...
