View Full Version : Alignment or radius rod issues?

Had a tire blow out the other day and will be buying new tires tomorrow. I'm going to go with the stock size for the front and was curious what may have caused the inside wear.
I saw posts concerning the radius rod problems and was wondering if you could tell just by the wear if this was radius rod or just simple alignment. The car only has 19k miles on it right now and never been raced. If it werent for the poor wear, I'd have got a lot more life out of the tires (the car really is driven easy). The tires have never been rotated (I'm lazy...).

strut rub??? Maybe an alignment issue though, but I dont think its a RR bush issue. I havent had that problem with my tires and I am still on the stock RR bushings that have been failed for a while now. Most likely strub rub or alignment is my vote.

the pics don't look bad enough to be strut rub, unless it is a VERY mild case, but it most certianly could be an alignment issue

deff an alignment prob, possibly caused by bad suspension parts. prob more likely to be strut mount bushing/bearings gone bad than anything. theres a bunch of threads on how to check them on this site. just make sure everythings good before you spend your money on an alignment.

There are a lot of posts showing that same kind of wear. Most say its due to bad rr bushings. If you are planning on doing an alignment anyways, why not go ahead and replace the rr bushings. Its a pretty easy install.

Definitely getting it aligned. Once I see the results I'll continue troubleshooting if necessary I guess. I dont think it's strut rub because of how even the problematic area is.

The radius rod bushing when bad lets the wheel change toe in and out under different loads. The upper strut bushing when bad causes a shift to -camber.
Take a look at both of those before you get is aligned.
