I've got 275/35/18 BFG DR's...they've got around 6k miles on them right now I don't notice much difference in tread, but they don't seem to be hooking like they used to. Does heat have any effect on traction with drag radials? It's been 92-93 degrees the last few days....

Heat them up more. When i used to run BFG's they worked better the more they were heated, and also the more the tread was wore down. Once they were bald was when they worked the best IMO.

Temperature will always affect traction. Most tires are stickier when hot (hence the burnout you do at the track) and harder (less sticky) when cold.

Maybe you should check your tire pressure?

I generally get rid of them when more than an inch of cord is showing. Heat is a factor

That could be a good point...I had about 32 lbs in them when it was 70 degrees or so, now it's 95 outside, so maybe they've gotten up to 35+ psi. And this is street traction, not at the strip, so a burnout isn't an option lol.

Before I could punch it at 30 mph and dead hook (A4, downshifted to 1st gear), now it spins the tires to 45 mph or so and hooks.
