So the other day I loaded up about 50 rounds of .243 measuring overall length from the bullet tip. Ammo came out good but my hornady bullet comparator came in today. Of course all my bullets are seated to deep but I expected that. Can't wait for more bullets to come in so I can refine the process. I also ordered the O.A.L gauge to get an accurate measurement of where my OAL should be for my particular rifle. It was at least good practice to get the basics of reloading down, now comes the refining process.

Buy a bullet puller, pull the bullets, and redo the process. Faster and cheaper ;)

Why did you expect too deep of a seat if your OAL was good? Is your brass out of spec?

I measured from the tip of the bullet instead of the ogive. I have a kinetic puller but it is probably the biggest pain in the ass ever. Maybe Id do it for 10 or so before having a fit of rage. The last batch at the same oal shot under an inch so itll do for now.

If they grouped good and aren't over pressure, don't worry. Remember, reloaders as a group are the most anal-retentive, nitpicking, "I'm right and you are wrong" bunch of people in the universe. This really isn't a bad thing, however, when people are dealing with large quantities of explosives in their own home.
