Figured I'd get it started. I think last years route worked well we had 2 stops before our straight shot to vegas. We had one right off the 210 and 15 intersection and one in barstow which allowed everyone from high desert and anyone coming to the 15 off of any of SoCals main highways to join up with us and get our caravan going. If you have any suggestions post up and let us know. Please take note this cruise is for Friday October 2, 2009 which is the first official day of the Goat Run. This cruise is planned so we can arrive in vegas with enough time to reach our local destination and check in to our hotels or where ever you plan to stay for the time being and allow us to be on time to the first event of the evening The Show N Shine. ARRIVAL - 9:30AM & DEPARTURE - 10:30AM SHARP!!
This is that back parking of a small shopping center that should have plenty of parking for us as it worked out well last year. Theres a gas station and places to grab something to eat as well.

Second Stop: 2796 Tanger Way , Barstow, CA 92311
ARRIVAL - 12:00PM & DEPARTURE - 1:00PM SHARP!! This will give everyone some time to stretch their legs and grab a bite to eat.

This is the street that leads you straight into the parking lot where we will be. Turn on the street and over the bridge and you cant go anywhere but into a parking lot where all of us will be waiting for the other caravans to join.

Speaking of which, can we not make cruises at 8am this year? I was barely back to the room by then so of course I missed last years guided tour. There should be a rule that no motoring events start until after breakfast, which is at noon in Vegas (its in the by-laws, I think). Just think of it as operating on East Coast time.

Since you are the one who has all the connections for everything else don't you already know someone? Most likely your goat will be down that weekend anyway. So maybe you could be the one to take charge in getting this done for us.:fawkdance

Hey, I came in handy taggin along, I gave you the heads up on AAA with a badge whenever I could.

Oh, and Your right, my goat "will be down", Way past you, down the road boosting ahead. All done in silence... Depending on what exhaust you'll be running and settle on that month, I might faintly hear you on the throttle trying to play catch up. Hmm, but don't think we can get too crazy, we might have a "precious cargo on board" placard thing going on :)

If like one of the officers of one of the clubs cld and told them what's going on they might be inclined to come out, take a few shots, maybe do one from the air as were getting on the freeway. Seeing as how the Pontiac badge is going away, GM selling it off, there are still die hard fans etc. & all that :confused:

Well I did not know about any shenanigans like that causing the whole 15 to be shut down. I only just joined this forum a couple weeks ago after chatting with one of it's members outside work so I can't comment. But, if we are all good for about a dozen minutes while getting on the freeway from the parking lot, I would not think this would be a problem. :rules:

You honestly think they'll just up and leave after the footage? Having that many cars going down the highway draws ALOT of attention plus they'll have to get clearence to fly over us and film so people will know.

If I remember correctly Commercial Helicopters are cleared into any Airspace up to 3500, maybe 5000 feet as long as they do not cross into any FAA restricted areas like flight paths (like traffic or news helicopters operate).. so no advance requisite required?

Maybe they will leave after their news piece is done, maybe they won't. I have only been involved in a few large caravans with the San Diego Mustang Club, and the Red Hot Riders (Motorcycle club) and we never had news people out covering one of our events exclusively, nor did we ever get a freeway shut down. So I dunno.

I was just making a suggestion, not trying to rumple any feathers. I defer to the clubs leadership of course.

LOL the 2 stops you see here are for meetings purposes so that people coming from all over socal and norcal can meet us there at either one so we can have a nice caravan out to vegas.
