Poker Tournament Signup

As mentioned in the schedule thread, we are trying to get a private tournament set up for the GoatRun. Currently it's scheduled for Sunday the 4th at 4pm. It was a little easier to do last year at Excal since the e-tables do not require a dealer to be present so we didn't need to worry about a reservation.

I need to put a list together for when I start talking with the poker rooms. We had a good time last year with a small group and I would hope with the extra day we will have an even better turnout this year.

If you are interested in playing, please post up with the number of people in your group and the amount range you would be willing to play for. To keep things simple and fun, I am leaning towards a single buy-in tournament and would like to keep the buyin on the low side to encourage beginners to play.

I am going to see if they will allow us to play a few hands face-up so if anyone wants to try this, it's a fun way to learn the game. Hell my girlfriend won last year's event and she is definitely a novice.

I have spoken with the Venetion and they have a pretty good deal going for a "bring your own game". They will set us up with our own dealer for each table that we fill for a Sit n' Go style tournament. For those unfamiliar with this, dont worry as its really the same as a regular tournament but runs a little quicker. At any rate the buy-in is $65 per person with $10 of that going to the house. They pay the top three places with a 50/30/20 percentage split of the money. The only catch is they assume we will fill each table in use at 10 people per table so if we have an off number like 18, we need to pay the house fee for each empty seat out of the prize pool. I am not too worried about this its only a few dollars per person assuming we come close to filling each table.

If you haven't been to the Venetian poker room, it is very nice just like the rest of the hotel. Poker Rooms are non-smoking but one wall is open to the casino. Walking through the casino on Monday though I didn't notice much oder of smoke even in the area outside the room so I think we will be ok.

I would really like to reach a total of 18-20 players so spread the word guys! I need to get a final head count to them by 10/1/09

Yeah I figure Mike's group will be in as well and hopefully we can build it from there. I would like to get at least two tables this year.

In case anyone is interested, we are starting with 1500 in chips and they have 15 minute levels. I am guessing we will be starting the blinds at 25/50 which is pretty standard.

Thanks for the offer but now that I have it all set up I am loathe to start changing the details around (I am inherently very lazy). Plus I haven't been to Balley's but the V has a realllllly nice room and juicy cash games for those of us that will probably play after the tournament.

Hopefully you can join us at the $65 price point, it's really not much more. :)

Thanks to everyone that made it out to play. We had quite a few that were new to poker but the Venetion dealers and staff were patient with everyone and it looked like a good time was had by all.

Hamilton (04BlackPlague) took down the final money spot in 3rd place and last years winner (my gf Kristine) fell to the bubble in 4th place.
