There's a local dealership who has a used '04 with 698 miles on it. It's a Torrid Red 6 spd with black interior. What do you think is a fair price for the car? He's had it for 4-5 months already so I think he might be ready to deal.

Fair price would be $20,000 to $24,000. Would try to get somewhere in the middle of that range.

offer wholesale and don't go any higher than 23, '06 are almost here already.

Price is always a concern. However, I'd be more than a little interested in it's history. Specifically, I would want some assurance that it was not a GM "buyback". Just my 2 centavos.

I hope that it hasn't been beat to hell by the salesmen who all went for test drives.

It's worth the exact same amount that you're willing to pay and the dealer is willing to sell it for.

I bought mine new in January for 23,900, just to give you and idea. Check the prices on Carmax to give you an idea of what they are going for in your area.

go to pontiac.com....find other 2004's (for info only)......tell the dealer your looking at another one at xxxxx dealership, and that you're buying tomorrow......see what the best price is........... after the employee discount promo pissed off the dealers....they are throwing heavy kickbacks to them, to turn older cars..good luck!
