Will these work as a direct fit replacement on a 04 GTO? or is there modifications to the brake system and etc necessary?

I second that. Could be a good deal compared to Baer and Wilwood if they are a true bolt on.

the rear will fit right in.
to use the fronts, you either have to replace the steering knuckle to 05 parts, drill and tap the mounting holes in your stock knuckle to 14mm from 12, or make a shim for the factory 12mm bolts to take up slack in the bracet holes.
04 caliper bracket and knuckle is 12mm, 05 is 14

Correct, but others have used the 12 mm bolts torqued down in the direction of force.

As taken from Beertestr 's info:

C6 calipers are beefier, they are stiffer, which is why I passed on the Baer kit. I upgraded to 2005's.

I thought about the Baer kit, but I wanted the better calipers, and they wouldn't just sell their rotors and hats... that, and I could not get the brakes before my next track day, Baer's lead time sucks...

...The holes are indeed 14 mm, not 12 like the 04's. I bolted them in without any sleeves, used a little Loctite. I paint marker'ed the bolts, and have been watching them. 2 open track days, no problems.

Are the '05 rear calipers any different than the '04s, and are they a direct swap?

Thanks

They are a direct swap and are color matched Red. The bigger difference is in the rotor which is ventilated on the 05.

Anyone with an 04 should be considering a brake upgrade. They are very weak.

Right now I'd prefer to keep the package together.

Thanks!

last complete set that was on eBay went for $315.

You can easily make sleeves for the 12mm bolts on the 04.

I think I've found a DBA 12.5-inch (18mm) vented rotor for the rear along with a bracket that will allow us to use the OEM caliper. I hope to have all the info by the end of the week.

The Rotors are $165 Each and the Pair of Brackets are $165. The lead time from Australia is 6 Weeks. They can be purchased from www.man-a-fre.com. They are the exclusive US Distributor for DBA products. Been there, done that. In the end the cost is too high.

Woah, Closer...you are in Houston? I would be willing to work a deal with you if you work helping me out with the installation into the deal...I am very interested but I am also concerned with the mild "retrofitting".

I am actually moving to Houston, so installing probably wouldn't work for a month or so. I live in Dallas currently. I am willing to deliver to Houston as I will be there next week.

I wouldn't get too worked up about it. I bet a small sleeve will be all that is needed to cinch the brackets down tight.

Thanks Closer for all the help, that was painless. I can not wait to get them and see the difference. I believe this is the smart way to go considering you will pay triple for a baer or wilwood kit, and from what I hear gain almost identical results. Well we will see. Thanks again
