GoatRun 2009 DVD

Ok so here it goes. Im the guy that takes hundreds of photos at every event. And I plan to do the same at the GoatRun. Only this time I was thinking about creating a DVD. Im not doing this to make a "quick buck". To be honest, I would imagine that I would only charge my cost per DVD and Print. Guessing 3 bucks.

I know that several of you will have questions and judging my "skills" at being able to create a movie... blah blah blah. (dont judge until you see the product) I will also make this movie in widescreen format and also be able to add to you Iphone users.

I will not be using an HD camcorder. (dont have one so dont b*tch about it) I will be using 12 maga pixel camera and I have be taking photos for several years now enjoy doing it. I will be using the 2009 IMove software.

Some of the "chapters" will include the following:
Rally Stops - People coming and leaving each rally point
Sponsor Pages - will include logos, domains, and photos
Night Life/Party - self explanatory (lets see Greg or someone throwup or passout on the street lol)
Photo Gallery - Self Explanatory
Bar B Que - Photos and videos of the event and the COOK
Racing - Photos and Videos of the event
Cruise - I will not be making people stop every 10 min. I would however like to be behind the first car. This way I can get some good footage.
Show n' Shine - Photos and footage of the event including Raffle ticket winners.

Here is what I need help with. Although I plan to take several hours a day of footage, I do not have any type of Speed Camera. I would like to have some footage of a camera mounted to the headrest of the drivers seat - During the cruise and drag racing. Some footage perhaps from the hood or side of the car as well. If anyone has a mounting unit or will take some footage for me please let me know. I would love to spend a few min.s on the phone with you. Just send me a PM. Also, I cant be everywhere all the time, so if at all possible I would love to be able to use some of your photos in the DVD.

So thats that. I have a "draft" dvd already created. I plan to show Robert (imcautious) in the next week. I promise you. This will not be a dvd created by a 5 year old, or your grandmother.

Thanks. Its not a money making idea for me. Just something fun I like to do. Looking into it, I have decided I want to have the image burnt onto the disk. Looks much cleaner - professional.

So I have about 7 pages of items I would like to take "video or photos" One of the things I would hate to ask eveyone to do, but would look great in the DVD is...

While everyone is driving into the speedway parking lot, I would like to take one photo of every single car. This is where everyone needs to be patient with me. I want to create a part in the video where every single car is being flashed on the screen. Each picture about .5 seconds each. That would be a 60 second clip showing 120 cars. Just and idea if people would be interested in giving me their time.

good news. Im in works with a guy that makes the "chasecam"s recording device. He has told me that there is a good poss. that he may be able to get me a full setup to "use" for the event. Good cause these things are very pricy.

This is a great camera. Its records at 520 lines of actual video. AKA 720x480 at 30 seconds. This means that your getting the same picture if not better then as you would see broadcasted on your TV. Thanks for all the help. The most help would be to get photos and or video of the events or stuff that I am unable to "shoot".

I plan to have them for sell about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks after the event. I hope to have two items on the DVD. The DVD file itself and a MPEG-4 file. For all those Iphone users out there, this will be a simple drag and drop into our itunes. You will be able view this same video/dvd on your iphones just without the menu. (Im sure it would work with any mobile device that plays MPEG-4) Just a little something extra that will be added. =)

Ok so a bit of informaiton. I will have the Speed Cam for sure and I will have 2 camcorders and 1 DSL camera. At times throughout the ride up I will be speeding up, not to race anyone, but to put myself in a better spot for footage. My plan is to pull over and get shots from the side of the road, center of the road, and from my car. I plan to make magnets that will go on the side of my car that says something like "smile your on camera" This way you know to look your best when passing me or when Im passing you. Please do your best to work with me, but still have fun as well.

For drag racing:
I will need a few cars that would be willing to allow me to place the Speed cam on your car. But the racing has to be on equal proformance cars, or else you wont see anything in the video if "Dave" is just passing everyone up. LOL

Please dont leave me in the dust. At Each stop I will be doing filiming of all the cars leaving the meeting spot. Then I have to get all my crap back into the car. Please dont leave me behind. If I cant catch up, there wont be much to "shoot" lol

I wanted to give you and update!!!

I have already started the process. In fact, I started it on Sunday night of the event. LOL The DVD is looking to be between 1 hour and 1 hour 45 min. I cant wait and would hope that all of you would be patient with me. I would guess the "editing" of the videos and photos would take about 2 weeks. Then the last process is to burn the DVD and chose a case.

No word on price yet, im still looking into making sure that this is affortable, with great quality. As soon as the DVD is ready, I will post sample videos. I will also then provide you with a Paypall account. This is how I will be taking payments. Again, like I have said, my cost for the DVD is going to be your cost. If someone wants to send a dollar more for my time, then so be it. LOL

Even though I have been approched that this will "FAIL" by a local member. I will still honor my word and produce this DVD. Thank you!

With a double layer DVD burner you can burn up to 8.0 GB's. Im working on getting off my computer and on a disk. I will have more updates later this week. Thanks

I was very excited in taking on this DVD project, however once the headache started It was down hill from there. The DVD is just over 2hours long and Its 7.9GB in data/menu's. I have been to 4 producing companies to get help with getting this file off my laptop and each of them have told me different reasons why it will not work/or what the issues are. I have had to delete all my photos just to get the dvd to burn. in a nutshell, my laptop is only a single layer burner. This means: I am only able to burn up to 4.2GBs per dvd. the last production company was able to take the RAW videos without the dvd menu off and burn it onto his double layer burner. Even this took time. Once he did that he told me everything worked out fine. I ordered 100 DVD's with cases and the Goat Run logo burned onto the DVD. Its crap. The video footage had to be low res. and there is no Menu, and wost of all, its not in order. Needless to say I got my money back and "spoke" to them about it. grrr. So. I decided to make two dvd's. Each with about 3.75GBs. All seems will. Im able to get to the point of burning the dvd. It takes about an hour. Then "crap" happens. It wont burn. At this point im just tired of it. its taken way to long and now the video looks like crap. For those that want it. I have the Dvd's with no menu's, out of order, and poor video quality. LOL

I really am very sorry about this. It upsets to me to have to say this. Sorry again. I have spent a lot of time and energy on this. The reason why I dont want to give anyone these dvd's i have, Is because It looks bad. Im truly ashamed. Thank you all for your support, time, and kind words.

Even this took time. Once he did that he told me everything worked out fine. I ordered 100 DVD's with cases and the Goat Run logo burned onto the DVD. Its crap. The video footage had to be low res. and there is no Menu, and wost of all, its not in order. Needless to say I got my money back and "spoke" to them about it. grrr. So. I decided to make two dvd's. Each with about 3.75GBs. All seems will. Im able to get to the point of burning the dvd. It takes about an hour. Then "crap" happens. It wont burn. At this point im just tired of it. its taken way to long and now the video looks like crap. For those that want it. I have the Dvd's with no menu's, out of order, and poor video quality. LOL

I really am very sorry about this. It upsets to me to have to say this. Sorry again. I have spent a lot of time and energy on this. The reason why I dont want to give anyone these dvd's i have, Is because It looks bad. Im truly ashamed. Thank you all for your support, time, and kind words.

That sucks travis! Sorry to hear about all the bs and headaches thanks for all your effort and help ill take a low quality dvd :). Maybe I'll even send you a HD or Drive to upload the edited dvd files and I'll see what I can do as far as putting it on a DVD for us. Let me know!

I was very excited in taking on this DVD project, however once the headache started It was down hill from there. The DVD is just over 2hours long and Its 7.9GB in data/menu's. I have been to 4 producing companies to get help with getting this file off my laptop and each of them have told me different reasons why it will not work/or what the issues are. I have had to delete all my photos just to get the dvd to burn. in a nutshell, my laptop is only a single layer burner. This means: I am only able to burn up to 4.2GBs per dvd. the last production company was able to take the RAW videos without the dvd menu off and burn it onto his double layer burner.
