Good choice for sure. Goodyear packed a lot of their F1 Series technologies into this tire without the added cost. I had a chance to put this tire to the test on a wet and dry track this last fall. I was very impressed. In wet it stuck to the road strong and in dry I was laughing at how well it did. I'd run these over most entry level Ultra high performance tires any day. Here's a link to more details on them. Click on the "Product Details" link under the sizes for features and benefits. This is an excellent tire. I am open to other tires but the tread design on this one led me to believe would do ok in light snow too.

I just went with the G-Force Super Sport A/S. No idea how they'll do in 'light' snow, but I am really satisfied thus far.
The rack has them on sale right now, comparable to the GTs.

Got a set of these this spring. Replaced a set of General Exclaim UHPs. Since America's Tire Service screwed up -- they sold me these at the same price as the Generals.
I don't like these as much as the Generals. Overall, they're equal to the Generals in many regards, such as tire wear, noise and dry handling in most conditions -- however, there are a couple of areas where this tire is worse.
For example, if accelerating out of a low speed corner where there is still a lateral load, these tires will break loose where the Generals didn't.
Since one of your important criteria is performance in snowy conditions -- take my comments with a grain of salt as we don't get any snow here. However, in the rain the Generals were bulletproof. These? Don't know as I wasn't able to take these out in rainy conditions before our rainy season ended.

True about the Generals. Mine are very worn now and only now are starting to slip in the rain. Up until now, I couldn't make them lose traction in wet, while aggressively going around a corner (with a sane amount of gas pedal applied).

The all seasons are a poor compromise in all seasons. You're better off purchasing a dedicated set for the summer and another set for the winter, swapping the two in the fall and spring when the weather dictates. Being in Winnipeg, I think you'd most definitely want a dedicated tire that has a tread and compound designed for the cold winter months.
Personally, I wouldn't expect folks in Texas or Florida to know which tires work well when the pavement is frozen and there's snow on the ground unless they happened to grow up (and drive) in a snow state. Just my $0.02.

A big +1. All seasons are nice but don't really do diddily squat for snow. I agree 100% in a seperate winter sets of wheels and tires. Get a cheap set of used 17's and get some Blizzaks.

Ask me where I grew up... but on the other hand I didn't drive there.
But I drove plenty in NY, NJ, CT, MA, VT during winter time.

I also have those. Haven't see snow yet, but they perform well and are quiet, wearing well too. As for those that say get dedicated snows, I disagree, unless you live in an area that gets lots of snow. WHere I live, we don't get snow that often, but we do get cold and when it is 20 degrees outside, I'd rather have a/s than a summer only. heck, I'd rather have a a/s than a snow tire if the ground is nice and dry, just cold as hell.

You don't think it snow's in Texas? In north Texas we get enough snow to ski if there were actually mountains. Don't underestimate us we've all most likely driven in the snow.
And to the OP if I was you I would defiantly get snow tires for the winter. Also I thought about getting these but I ended up going with the Eagle F1 all-seasons they are a little more high performance and were on sale at the time. I've been quite happy with them

Looks like I'll be picking up a set of Blizzaks from Discount Tire.
So what would you guys recommend for a summer tire that won't drive me off the road when the temps drop? Sometimes we don't get snow till December and while it may be 20-35 degrees outside we have no snow.
What do you guys think of Nitto NT 555? Non drag radial version.

For winter, investigate Nokian tire options.

Even without snow on the ground I would prefer to have the winter tires on the car. Summer tires tend to get hard when the temps drop below 45 degrees or so.

For winter conditions, you can't beat a set of Nokian WR's (1st or 2nd GEN). They won't kill the fun when the pavement is dry like most winter tires do. Ran them on my previous ride, one of the first purchases for my new ride.

I recommend a max performace summary tire coupled with a truck with snow tires and leave the GTO in the garage for winter.
