Was shopping for some AS tires to go up front this coming winter and I was set on just getting some ok tires nothing special for like 100 or so bux.

The guy at this place kept saying that the H rated tires I wanted to get were not safe for my type of car, and that I should at least get V rated ones (130 vs 140mhp).

Is that true? I don't plan on taking this car to 130 mph, but I don't know if that's just a hard limit or just a recommendation?

he's just trying to get more money out of you. That speed rating (H --> V) is were the price really starts to jump.
It's not going to make a difference if you don't drive that fast, especially with the fact that your looking for all season tires. I wouldn't push my luck and go driving at 120+, or try to hit 3 G's around turns.

Hell blizzaks are H rated, and plenty of people run those, granted for a short time period but still.

Back in the F Body days cars shipped with H rated tires had the speed limiter lowered.

Its all about the heat generated at those speeds. If you don't plan of speeding even a S rating would be fine.

What I would make sure is that the load rating fits the car. I would look for a XL rating.

The one's I'm looking at are 95H SL rating (max load 1521lbs), vs the 95W SL rating (max load 1521 lbs) that my stock KDWS came in.

So these are exactly like my stockers, what's the difference between XL and SL and why should I get the XL?

I find the sidewall tends to be stiffer so it still handles good. If you were happy with the KDWS then it would feel the same.
