View Full Version : Stock Polished 17's?

I was thinking about polishing 2 of my spare 17" wheels to see how they turn out. My friend polished his Impala wheels and I like the look of them.
My 2 spare 17's are in pretty rough condition so I figured I would strip the paint and polish, then if I like them, I would do the rest of my wheels in the polished look.
Just wondering if anyone has pictures/done it? I have seen the Stock 18's done, but I can't seem to find any 17's.

Here is a picture that I found a long time ago. I actually like it better than my polished 18s.

Put aircraft stripper on the wheels, let it sit for about 5 minutes, you'll see the paint bubbling and then you would simply wipe it clean with a rag.
If theres paint left over, repeat process in said areas.
Then sand if need be, from what I read, I guess these wheels need sanding.
And then polish :) Polishing takes a long time though.

LOL, aircraft stripper made me think of a special kind of flight attendant :)

Sanding is what takes forever! I have about 9 hours in each of my wheels.

+1 for polish. It won't chip like my chrome 17s in the salt.

What about if you have polished and then clear coated lips like on my AZA's? I want to strip off the clear and repolish and leave them like that Seeing as I have the same issue that all AZA's have. Peeling paint.

I had a local guy polish them on the side. He had them for a few days.
