do you think 255-40-17's will rub up front.

Running 245-40-17 up there, well just bought some 275 40 17's for the rear so putting the 255's up front i have a 1" drop and a 8.5 inch rim, will it rub. just wondering.

Offset will play a big role here. I can see it fitting, but gain, offset will determine that.
I'd say if you were running a +35 to +38, you should be fine. You can always mount 1 tire up, and test fit. If it is barely hitting the strut, use a small spacer.
