From what I'm read, it looks like it's split down the middle 50/50. Let's have another round. Will these fit with NO MODIFICATIONS to suspension or fenders? The car is bone stock.

Thanks guys,

Edit: I think the 245s may rub, so I think I'll play it safe and go with 235/35/19 all around. Any thoughts?

I know for a fact the fronts will be fine. I'm not quite sure about the rear. I believe the offset needs to be a tad lower than the factory 48 but a good search should reveal this.

Thanks for the quick response. I am not as worried about the fronts as the rears, which is where my search has netted me mixed results. I just want confirmation from some people that have this setup in the rear. Pictures would be nice too!

Sounds like I may have to go with 235/35/19s. Any thoughts?

that's only going to gain you about 1/5 of an inch on each side... it'll prob still be close

do they offer the rims your looking at in an 8.5 with a 45mm offset?

edit:
play around with this....looks like the rims will stick out about a half inch more than stock.....I think that'll bring it pretty close to the fender lips under load

the fronts might rub when you turn to the left or right all the way, a problem i had with 245/40/18's, 235/35/19 should be fine but i'm not too sure. The rear's will more than likely rub the fender if you hit a hard bump or step on it with a 35/19 height wheel setup.

2xx/35/19 will most likely RUB. You want 2xx/30/19 in the rear to give you the best shot. Guess what, mine still rubbed w/o drag bags with 265/30/19. Good Luck.

Why so scared or rolling/cutting fenders? It's well worth it.

265/30/19 is wider than 235/35/19. You're talking an extra 15mm right off the bat difference.

I have on my car right now 18x8.5's on my car with a 35mm offset. The fronts i went with a 225/45 -18 and they fit fine. They are pushed out as far as the fender is but with the skinnier tire its looks like they just slide in under the fender. In the back i went with a 255/40-18 and they rubbed with a passenger and when hitting minor bumps in the road. So i had to shave the fenders pretty much as far as you can shave them all the way out (the whole lip) and now their fine. I only rub occasionly when i have a passenger in the car, full tank of gas and when hitting a big bumb on the freeway. Your getting 8 inch rims, as opposed to my 8.5's so you might be ok if you ran no bigger then 255's

Yeah, I'm planning on running 235s. :)

Stupid question, but why would you "downgrade" from the 245? A 245 isnt a wide enough tire for this car let alone going with a 235 on the rear????

I Most def. agree with easygoing i wouldn't down grade to a smaller width, the stock width of 245 is too slim as it is....if your just going for looks then do what you feel you like...but as far as looks and performance ...you won't gain by going to a smaller width , you will actually go backwards...just IMO...roll the fenders...do what you got to do to get the best of both worlds....

You're planning on 19s with our shitty Michigan roads?

What 06black60 is saying is that you need the sidewall of the tire to be smaller than 35. 35 is too tall and you will still rub the fender with 19s. A 35 offset is pretty low and will most likely need fender modding. I think its BreytonGTO that has a similar setup and had to mod something for it to fit.

You should be fine as long as youre on stock springs. If you set it down, youll be pretty tight on the back tires to the fender.

Cool, are you speaking from experience here? If so, can you please share some pics?

Thanks

Get rims with a better offset and get drag springs for the rear and then u can run a 275+ out back which will actually be productive.Their are plenty of rims that look nice and have the right offset that will allow you to get some big meat out back you just need to do some more searching.

My wheels are 40 and I have had no rubbing issues at all with 245's. I am also lowered.

How wide are your wheels? Do you have a little bit of room to spare, or are you basically maxed out? Also, what brand of tires are you running?

I'm interested in your setup basically. :)

lets all face it lol. there is almost no consistency from one gto to another lol....all you can do is try it, if it needs modding it doesnt matter how many other people have done it without modding your car will still need something done. if it fits, hallelujah

I run rims with these specs: 19x8.5 with 40MM offset

I have 245/35/19 rubber all the way around. I had 1 issue with them rubbing when I hit some bad road doing 70 on a stretch of interstate. I Put some Stock height pedders springs on the back and I have never had a problem rubbing since.

my thoughts are this:

the stock offset is 48mm and a 245 tire. there are PLENTY of rims out there with a 45+ offset, that will work WITHOUT ANY DOUBT (there are even tons of 40mm offsets out there)

knowing this, why would you take a chance on a rim that is going to "marginally" fit at best, and have to go to a thinner than stock tire? most people upgrade parts when they change out stock stuff

it seems that 90% of the time, when people are determined to make a questionable change, it's because they are getting a "too good a deal" on something (the other 10% were just to stupid to do a little research), and they end up getting screwed just because they wanted to save a buck.

my advice is to forget about buying those rims and spend the little bit extra money and save yourself any future headaches
