Abel, Mabel, and Caleb went bird watching. Each of them saw one bird that none of the others did.
Each pair saw one bird that the third did not.
And one bird was seen by all three.
Of the birds Abel saw, two were yellow.
Of the birds Mabel saw, three were yellow.
Of the birds Caleb saw, four were yellow.
How many yellow birds were seen in all?

5 Yellow Birds were seen

It is not as easy as it looks, or it is if you are careful. It stumped me, I was all indignant, re-did the problem and got it correct (after knowing the answer). I'll post the answer in full (with work) at the recap tomorrow.

Question? Is the questions asking for individual yellow birds or total birds? Its worded a little vaguely. I probably should have asked before i answered :(

I am in Pasadena / Arcadia. I did see ur thread abt looking for apartments and I mentioned Pasadena - Arcadia in the mix and then the thread as regards the roommate situation.

Just been to one GTG.. Haddads in Feb 08/

But I am up by 5AM.. lol.

Here is the chart I used. First one shows how many birds there were, the number of 'b' in the box represents how many people saw that bird. That gave us 7 birds total.

Then I worked backwards, All of Caleb's were yellow, two of those were seen by Able, so the other birds seen by Able could not be yellow. The rest falls in.

I think I went to that one. I'm the petite, dark-haired one, with an 06 IBM.
