Last weekend I bought my 04 GTO, used. It had just under 2,700 miles on it. After driving it for a few days, I noticed that it had a rougher ride than the cars I test drove, over rough streets. I was wondering if the original owner had modified the suspension. So, I looked at the left rear, and everything looked "factory". Then, I checked the tires' air pressures. It was WAY high in every single tire, between 51 and 52 psi. I lowered it to the higher pressure indicated in the owners manual, 35 psi I believe. It has a smoother ride now.
I just thought I'd share my high tire pressure story.
My first mod will be a CAGS eliminator. That will happening in a week or two.
This car kicks ass! :) Hell, my wife even likes it!

Same thing for me. My front tires were 52-56psi and my rear tires were 51-55psi. They do that so you don't get flat mashed tires while on the boat. It's the dealerships fault for not prepping the car during delivery.

Same here. Mine is a week old and I read about the tire pressure issue in here. Sure enough, @55 psi all the way around. The other dealer prep oversight is the headlight adjustment, mine are too low just like everyone elses.

Might wanna check the springs too, hear some still had the ..uh...the uh...thingamajigs in em, the spacers.
Mine just had a slight bit of residue from the protective sheets around the door handles, other than that they did a pretty good job.

Man, I forgot about those, I'll check first thing in the AM. My car was fresh off the truck when I got it (5 miles on the clock) and I'm not impressed with the prep job done by the dealer. They acted like it was the first one they'd seen, and judging by the detail work, it may have been!

Yeah, might want to do a search, there was a small list floating around, but those were some of the major ones. Tire pressure, spacers.
My first mod was taking the dealer sticker off the rear end :)

Since the dealer wasn't paying me for the advertising space, I removed thier decal as soon as it got home.
Just one question for you, Jason.............what kind of person drives a car 3000 miles without ever checking the tires? Granted, with such low miles the car is barely broken in, but did you find any other issues regarding maintenance?
Sounds like you found THE car, next to no miles and somebody else took the depreciation hit. Hell, mine's only 10 days old and it has 1100 on it!

Mine had 15, 3 1/2 weeks later it had 2400. Lets say I broke it in a little :)
Not nearly close to those numbers now..but was a great first 3 1/2 weeks.

As far as the who wouldn't check their tire pressure over that many miles/months, I guess it would be somebody who doesn't really want this kind of car, a non-enthusiast.
Well... I haven't found anything else wrong with it yet, besides a small section of bad paint. It looks like something got on the car, faded the paint, and the original owner had it fixed by a crappy paint shop. My wife couldn't see it, but you can see it if you look in low light, at the right angle.
I didn't know about that spacer issue. I'll have to check that out too. I don't really even know what to look for though. I'll have to do a search on here.
Thanks for whoever mentioned the spacers!

I remember I didn't check the pressures right away, until I noticed that I could never get traction and would always spin out, etc.
Then I checked...52 psi all around...good times.
