How can you build pig pens so you can put nine pigs in four pens such that each pen has an odd number of pigs?


PM answers please.

build 3 pens in close proximity of each other. Each Pen gets 3 pigs. Build the forth pen around the three other pens. You now have 4 pens total, the largest containing 9 pigs and three pig pens.

Sorry for the delay folks, Busy as hell and no where near a comp today (well not for the morning and soon to be off) So I'm going to let this one run a bit longer. Maybe I'll close and post a new one tonight if I'm home.

put 1 pig in a pen, build another pen around it, put 2 in that pen, build a pen around that, put 2 in that pen, and build the final pigpen around that, and put 4 in that pen.
1=odd+2=3odd+2=5odd+4=9odd
Congrats on the most confusing correct answer of the lot. :)

Put 3 pigs each in 3 pens, then build another pen around all of them, just to make sure they don't get out.

Put all 9 pigs in one pen, then build 3 other pens around that one - i.e. concentric circles (or squares, really) with the pigs in the middle.

Empty Pens have Zero Pigs, Zero is not a negative number.
