Considering both...but, not sure which way to go. I like the look of the 19's I have picked out somewhat better than the 18's..but, don't want to hinder the cars performance. So, which would be better and for what reason???

I got the 18s because it saved me about $500 over the identical 19s and because future tire replacements were something like $50 a piece cheaper. There's also the weight advantage most 18s will have.

No one else has any info/opinion...hmm??

Its only been a half an hour.
Less rotating mass is better for performance. So a smaller wheel is beneficial. Also weight is a big deal to people, such as myself. Tire sidewall, I prefer a thicker one. Cheaper to replace. I need the closest thing to a DR available. When I finally get wheels they will be 18s!

I know...impatient aren't I..plus, it's probably been debated before?

I prefer to go fast. If anything I would want 19s in the rear and 18s up front. But I need DRs like I said, so it will be 18s all around.

I'm not a big fan of the 19" look on our cars either. 18s just seem to be right for it and should've been the base wheel size to begin with.

I think that 19's look pretty good. In my case I did 18's front and 19's rear.

19s+shorter sidewall= less traction, higher priced tires+rims, higher chance of rim damage from road ruts plus heavier rim.

Upside on 18's, Tires are cheaper and the ride is better. It's all up to the individual.
edit: And I'll second the comments hot rod lincoln makes. Although my 19's are 4lbs lighter (including the tire) than the stockers but your mileage may vary with any 19.

I'm pretty happy with my 18's, no degradation in ride quality. I'd be a little leary about 19's, though. There is not much sidewall with the 18's and with the 19's the tires look like rubberbands. Too many damn potholes around here!

Thats what scaring me from getting 19's. They look really good, specially when you do black w/ a polished lip. I was set on 19's until I fully inspected the shit-ass road I take to work everyday. I see other cars with 20's and they're curb rashed and waiting for a bend with all these pot holes. Looks aside, 18's are more streetable and that .5" more rubber sidewall can help.

I did the math and if you use a 275/35/18 you have a 3.75" side wall height compared to a 3.48" on the 295's that are on my car. Not even 1/4" difference. Hardly rubber bands. The ride is slightly firmer than stock and it cruises like a dream on the highway. In fact, I think if any GTO owner drove my car they would say it almost feels stock. Not bone jarring. That's lowered!! Don't let anyone talk you out of using 19's. They are just justifying their own purchases. Get what looks good to you. I like the way my car looks and I don't think anyone can say my car looks bad with 18's and 19's. You can always buy a cheap set of 18's for the track with slicks on them.

First of all, if you can afford CCW's like jak...go with the 19's in the rear, 18's up front. I love those wheels and you get the best of both worlds.
As for me, I am going for 18 in. VZ Monaro's. I love the look, and no need to worry about rubbing/fender rolling. If they were offered in 19's I would do the staggered look like jak. As for 18 vs 19, its purely situational. It depends on varying factors from individual to individual. I wont refute anything stated in this post bc I believe all parties make reasonable claims. I think the key thing to remember is...do what is going to make you happy.

That is one of the very few here that look good with 19"s...most look like a gangsta!

Agreed. Primary reason I am awaiting the 19" AZA Z1's to come out.
Jak's car looks great.

What brand/size wheels are those?

CCW. And not to toot my own horn, I have been saying since I first joined this board that 18's and 19's would look great on our cars. Most of the cars that have the same diameter wheels front and back look like the front wheels are bigger in diameter. It's an illusion but it looks that way to me.

Jak, If you look at alot of cars the front wheel well is actually bigger than the rear. My grand am was loke that as well as a few other cars i have owned.
I love the look of your ride by the way.
