View Full Version : Rolling Fenders and Painting Wheels

I took the car to a local shop and they suggested rolling the rear fenders from where the bumper joins the fender well all they way around (see arrows in pic). Is all of this necessary? I had fenders rolled on a VW before and I didn't have to do the whole area. Is this overkill?
Also, thinking of painting the wheels. Considering red or black center with the machined lip. Leaning towards the red (must be the same as the body color). Tried searching for pics on the net without much success. If you have any pics of a red car with red (center) wheels, please post. Type car doesn't matter. Thanks.

I see no reason to go that far down in the front. The only part that will rub is the top.

I would roll the whole upper half, from the bumper to the other side. It looks more "stock" as well as provides nice uniformity. I rolled mine like that, and it almost has the "feel" of the front fenders (which are already rolled from the factory).

If i can go back i wouldn't roll the fenders i prefer getting the right offset.

This. Thruxtons should never be painted, ever.

10 o'clock to 3 o'clock and grind...don't roll, and for the love of God don't touch those Thruxtons. My .02.

I just want to add for those that say don't paint the wheels (which seems to be well....everybody), the work would be professionally done and clearcoated as well. The shop works on vehicles for the Rams players (I know that's not saying much), but they seem to do good work. What I am saying is it will be no where near rattle can performance. The attached picture is sort of the look I was shooting for. I really haven't made up my mind to do this or not. Appreciate everyone's input. Keep it coming.

I only had to do a 6-10 inch section at the top of the fender and a little towards the front. That sounds like overkill. The more you roll the better chance you will have of cracking your paint.

There is a gentleman on here who has a CGM and does painting for a hobby and painted his Thruxton's CGM to match his car. Looks amazing if you ask me :)...I know he lives in California so try a thread in their Regional forum and ask for pictures.

I think I would leave them alone or go black. The red might be a little loud.

Ok, leave the wheels alone... Our cars are not $180k Benz.. and you don't have $5k HRE's, drop some mega dough if you want to pull off that look....
