Got this e mail response from Geoff about the wheels.
"The VZ Monaro 18" wheels special cost is going to be $1400 USD delivered and ideally we would need 6-10 sets to make a break even on the special. This includes 4 rims, 20 lug nuts, 20 lug nut covers, 1 delivery. Wheel off-set is 48P which is the correct off set to suit the GTO."
I think we are getting close. Anybody else?

I have a few questions. Love these wheels.
Just wondering about the center cap on these wheels. Will they come with the Pontiac emblem in the center or the Monaro emblem in the center? I would definitely prefer the Pontiac emblem.
Also will these fit the '04 GTO's without any rubbing or speedo recalibration problems?

If any center caps are sent, they will most likely be Holden caps. Your stock Pontiac centers will fit. You shouldn't have to recalibrate the speedo. There is discussion about tire/strut rub. If your stock BFGs don't rub the strut, your replacement tires shouldn't rub. Most people are running with P245/40R18s on these wheels. For those with strut rub problems, go with P235/40R18. Neither tire size will require recalibrating anything.

Thanks SccaGTO. As far as I know I don't have any strut rub at the moment but it has been a while since I checked.
Shouldn't have a rubbing problem because of the wheel size. It's 18x8 with +48 offset, same as the factory GTO wheel. If buying new tires, I think I would drop down to the 235 size just to be sure.
So close ............... must be a few more people that NEED these wheels. It's not that much, just 4 car payments for some of us.

The JHP VZ Monaro 18" wheels special will not include centre caps because your standard Pontiac caps fit the Aussie Monaro wheels. The standard tire fitment for Monaro is 235 x 40 x 18, but most GTOs are running 245 40 18.
P.S. Dont miss out on the wheel special this time.

Gotta be somebody else out there that just needs to look great. Geoff delivers these things so fast you'ld think they were sent from next door. I've got my set and zappman has his set. Let's make it worth it for sponsors to support our cars, need one more set ordered for JHP to break even on this GP. The $1400 price isn't that bad. My wife didn't even throw a fit when she saw the boxes, and I didn't even mention that I had ordered them until they called to deliver them. Well, she did give me funny look and started counting how many sets of wheels I've bought so far, but ...........THESE ARE WORTH IT !!!!!!!!!! Chrome is nice. And I'm sure you could get these chromed by someone stateside. BUT, where in the world can you find a set of wheels that are 18x8 and have the perfect offset for the GTO? Please show me a link to tirerack or any of the others that have the +48 offset. I haven't found them yet. Now ..........I got a set, I got mine from Geoff at JHP.

I'll have plenty of pics of them on my Torrid Red soon, hopefully by end of next week.
These rims sure are purty! Unfortunately I forgot to weigh them before I sent them off for some rubber, but I'd imagine they're around the 30lb mark, maybe a little less. My main concern, however, was appearance and fitment (not to mention durability, some of the roads here suck). Maybe if start racing I'll consider going lighter...
Oh, and I just have to echo the sentiments regarding JHP's awesome service. The ordering process was quick & hassle free. I ordered Monday evening, they arrived Thursday... now that's fast!

No i was saying i'm not interested in chrome rims, i was just stating that these aren't even chrome and they cost a ton. And just because of perfect offset you are willing to shell out an extra $600? There are plenty of wheels in 18" silver, hyperblack, chrome etc. that are pretty good quality with tires for $1400.
With tires you are looking at $2K for non-chrome 18's. Hell i think Drift R 19's with tires (mounted and balanced), lugs and locks, valve stems are only $2K.
I've been thinking of doing a Beyern 20"/19" (silver not chrome) setup and the rims alone come up to ~ $1250 shipped. Thats for 20" rear and 19" fronts! Still cheaper than the Monaro 18's.
:hail: After looking on ebay i've seen plenty of new toyo, BFG, and Michelin tires for this combo (20/19) for about $650 shipped. So its hard to justify spending the same amount on 18's.

nomo...i understand your hesitation. and i am sure there is a plethora of other options that could be purchased at or less than the price we paid, with or without tires. nonetheless, my main reason for purchasing this wheel is primarily due to the fact that it looks like it was made for the car. my largest problem with a majority of aftermarket wheels is the fact that they look...well, like aftermarket wheels. i like my wheels to look different, but in many ways, not deviate too far from the original design of the car. thus, these wheels met ALL of my criteria...perfectly. not to mention the ONLY other wheels i was looking at were CCW's (you want to talk about expensive wheels...lol) and/or the optional 18 in. GTO wheels. in fact, i was in line with mutha to buy the optional 18s he took off of his 05 to replace them with, none other than...18 in VZ's, if this GP fell thru. all that being said, i dont mind spending an extra couple 100 on wheels, especially if it is going to help one of our best vendors, as well as provide me with the appearance/look i am going for...
despite my comments, i think the key is to do what is going to make you happy. if the $$ is a concern, look for a more affordable wheel.
I just sent Geoff an e-mail about a set if it's not to late?

I ordered a set tonight. I was quoted a price of 1600 a week or so ago. Don't know if Geoff will give me the discount but I really don't care because these wheels rock and they are made for the car so it will give me more piece of mind then some of the aftermarket options. Next up is my SAP hood.

Ditto what zgoat said. I have a set of OZ Hydras in 18x8 that were on the car. They looked good, but, the offset is +40mm. That puts the tire close to the fender. I prefer wheels that look like they came on the car as apposed to wheels that look like an aftermarket builder made them for the car. With these wheels, the tire will be in the wheelwell where it's suppose to be. Thanks to all who ordered and to Geoff at JHP for the GP and the fast shipping. NOW, I expect to start see pictures of these wheels posted.

I can't wait to get these on the car. I plan on running 245/40/18 Nito 555's. I have a set of 555's on the front of my Camaro and I have had 6 sets of 555DR's that I have been very happy with.

I'm seriously considering getting in on this deal. Is there any consensus on the tire size 135 vs 145? People seem to be going both ways. Has anyone with 145's had any strut rub with these wheels? My stock set up had strut rub. An alignment seems to have cured it. None the less, I'm a little "gun shy" on the 145's and don't see the point of 135's since it's my understanding they'ed be "skinnier" than stock and ride worse than the 145's.
Cosmoso4
08-11-2005, 11:21 AM
Assuming of course that you meant 245's/235's, if you don't have any strut rub, run 245's. If you have strut rub now, run 235's. If you want a staggered look, you could run 235 front and 265 rear.
zgoat
08-11-2005, 04:49 PM
Cosmos...could you get 265's on teh VZ's without rubbing? I thought the largest they could handle were 245's.?.
Ideally I would like to run 255's.

Cosmoso4
08-11-2005, 06:04 PM
I don't see why 265's wouldn't work. Put 235's on the front and 265's on the rear. These 2 sizes come real close to matching in diameter. A 265 should fit on an 8" wheel without too much sidewall flex. The wheels are +48mm offset, so they are "in" the wheel wells quite a ways. If I needed to buy tires, I would get 235's and 265's. Use a 235/45-18 front, 265/40-18 rear. The rears will only be 10mm/.4" further in and out than the stock 245/45-17. I don't see why that shouldn't work.

Ditto. I had to wait until today to do it. The wife lost her purse and I had to wait for new credit cards to be sent. :banghead: Just got the cards in the mail today and fired off an e-mail to JHP. Too bad it's like 5am on Saturday over there.

Alright guys. Looks like about 10 of us got VZs. Now what tires and sizes is everyone going with. I decided to go with BFG KD in 245-40-18. I have read great things about KDs and even though the treadwear in only 200 I am dying to see how my car will handle a serious performance tire.

I am thinking Michelin Ps2's or Kumho Ecsta MX's...
Cosmos...what Yoko's are you running? Es100's?

I contacted Geoff and he said he still had a few sets that were avalible for the GP so I ordered mine today. They should be here within 7 days. I'm probably going to go with the Toyo Proxes 245/40/18 tires. A few guys here on the forum are using them with their VZ wheels and they look pretty good.

Pics please.
I may need to look into the Pirelli's. How do they ride and handle. I received my VZ wheels today. May be a few weeks before I get them put on. They do look great though.

I just ordered them today. Won't have a chance to get them put on until next Thursday. But mrgts1 likes them:

G'day guys.
Just to let those still interested know, we are closing this GP off on the 25th of August, 2005.
So those still interested or on the borderline, nows the time to get in. :)
Mine just arrived and they look great. Geoff didn't shipped them until the 25th since I was on vacation. Now I just need to get them chromed. Thanks for putting together the GP!

I finally got my new wheels on the car this morning, and they look awesome. I replaced some Mille Miglia EV-S wheels with these, and they just make it a clean, sleek look.
I guess the next addition will be some upgraded brakes. After turning the rotors last week, I figure the next time will be a good excuse to just go ahead and replace.

Looks great. I've had mine for over a week now. Just waiting to get tires. What tires did you go with?

I'm using the same Kumho ECSTA ASX 245/40WR-18 tires that I had on the Mille Miglias. Since these wheels have a full 48mm offset, there is no problems with rubbing...one big reason why I bought these wheels.
Now I need to clean up the Mille's and try to sell them...

The JHP VZ Monaro 18" wheels special will not include centre caps because your standard Pontiac caps fit the Aussie Monaro wheels. .
I would much rather have the Monaro caps especially for that kind of money..
