So, if I order an 06 from my dealer, does that lock in the price when I order it? Do I just pay a deposit (how much, $1k?), then pay the rest when it gets in? Or does the deal not close until the car gets there? Anybody who's ordered an 06, could you help me out, please?

Also, if I order next week, can I reasonably expect to see my car by December? Or will it be more like March until it gets here? Anyone have any ideas on that?

Thanks!

If it's anything like the '04 or '05 ordering process, you'll be able to find the car you want on a dealer's lot long before a special-order car arrives. You'll probably get a better price, too.

I can only go by my 2005 order experience and the other 8 cars I've special ordered over the years. You order now and can expect to put down a deposit. The final price is negotiated at the time the order is placed. Trade in allowance will be negotiated at the time the car comes in. Only rebates in effect at delivery will be honored. I placed my order for my 2005 in Aug 2004. At the time GM was only accepting GTOs with auto transmissions. The first day the manuals could be ordered my dealer placed an order converting an auto car in the same color sceme I wanted to manual. My car was on the 3rd boat over and I believe was in the first batch of manuals built (3rd week Nov 2004). For both 2004 & 2005 Pontiac said the cars would be in the dealership by Dec of the model year. For 2004 that was like Mar 2004 and for the 2005s the first cars started arriving mid January. My car arrived at the dealership 2 Feb 2005. If you have a specific color scheme, and want the car early, then order the car. It will get here when it gets here, but you will get one of the first arrivals whenever that may be.
