View Full Version : Max Nitrous shot on stock fuel pump and injectors

Okay I may be getting ahead of myself on this one but I am curious now and would like to find out what kind of nitrous boost the stock fuel system can handle.
My car will have a cam (most likely the FMS F13) and I am curious to know if I could get away with running a 75hp shot of nitrous.
I am leaning towards a dry system since I want to only run a 50-75hp shot and maybe a max of a 100hp shot on the track but that is a big maybe.
I am not sure who makes a good dry kit for the car if anyone has any suggestions that would be great. If I went wet I hear NX express and TNT are both really good systems.
I know I have seen a few people on here with the Zex kits too. I have heard good things about them as well.
Anyway thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I have a boost a pump and I got a h/c pkg and plan on running 100 shot when my digital window switch comes in.

so you don't have injectors or aftermarket pump on a 440hp motor and plan to run a 100hp shot of nitrous getting you up to about 550rwhp and you are not worried the fuel will still be there? I am worried at 440 which is probably more hp than I will make with cam and a 75hp shot. What brand/kit are you using?

Dude i ran a 150whp shot on my stock fuel pump in an 02 altima SE on stock engine. Believe me this engine can DEFINITELY handle more than a 75hp shot lol.
And why would you go dry? For one we have returnless fuel systems = no dry setups
two, wet is safer because the fuel mixed in with the n20 makes sure each cylinder gets the correct a/f ratio, instead of possibly leaning out a cylinder with a dry shot. three, injectors are not used to add extra fuel with a wet kit, only the fuel pump is used to pump the extra fuel since the injectors are bypassed in a wet kit for the n20 portion of the fuel.

I was still unsure on wet or dry I am a new to nitrous just checking it out. FAQ on ls1tech.com said dry is better for small shots. I want a 75hp shot and maybe an upgrade to 100hp for track visits. My engine will not be stock when I add the nitrous due to the cam I plan to use. I just want to make sure I am getting enough fuel!
I know that the ls1 can take 150hp shots all day long and if I wanted that much of a shot I would select a wet kit I just wans't sure the car could keep up with the fuel demands.
So there are no dry kits for the ls1?

Despite what ppl say, you can run a dry kit on a returnless car.
Hardcore runs a dry kit on his for example. I ran a dry kit on my 00 V6 Mustang a few yrs back too when everyone told me you can't. The trick is the spray it through the MAF. If you have the range, the computer will recoginize the addition airflow and dump in fuel accordingly. This works great on the smaller shots (typically <100). Other dry kits spray infront of a TB just like a wet kit but up fuel pressure to compensate for the nitrous.
Also, saying wet is safer than dry is a myth. Both have their pros and both have their cons. Bottom line though, both can very safe and perform very well when setup correctly (this includes a proper tune).

I run 100 shot usually on the street with the stock tune with a wet system and I have never seen my fuel pressure go below 50 Psi, LPE cold air, dyno LT's, Corsa, TR6's. I am planning to go to 125 or 150 soon so will see if the PSI drops a little more, I engage at 2700 and off at 6k rpm. I also have the hobbs switch set at 35 psi. I hit it the other night at 1100 psi and walked 4 car lengths on a SRT ram and let him get a jump on me and I just left it in 3rd at 55.

Keep hearing good things about NX express kits. I am keeping my eye out for a used kit. Seems like there are some good deals on ls1tech and ebay.
Thanks again for the info.

I really wouldn't recommend buying a used system, you don't really know what you are getting and N20 can be difficult to troubleshoot. For the extra $200-300 you would spend on new would be worth the piece of mind to me.

Yeah I really don't want a used system but it seems like a lot of people buy them and never get them installed so there are always a few basically new kits for discount prices...

There really isnt anything wrong w/ buying used kits. Just test the noids before install. Besides, if there is anything wrong, most companies (for example, compucar and NX) both have lifetime warranties and will fix it for the cost of shipping it to them. This is how I have purchased both of my nitrous kits.

125 was teh safe max on a Gen.III so around that maybe lower based on comp.
