First off, before you laugh; I am obviously not that good at photoshop. Not to mention I have never even thought about altering a car before.
But with all this talk, I got to thinking, if they insist on a retro design... what would I want? I know, I know... it still looks like a Mustang, but you get the idea.

Personally, I would rather have a more modern A. Martin type of design but thats not what we are going to get.
P.S., this area should NOT have "Sedan" in the title until it has been confirmed by GM :)

You may have an 08 Mustang in the making there, but it aint a GTO.
Dont want to dog your effort, but it just looks like a Mustang with a couple of badges put on it.

it is a Mustang Pic, yeah I know it still looks like a stang.
Check out the front though. It has retro-cues from old goats. The headlights are literally off one of the last year Goats (brain fart).

If you wanna go retro, take the cues off a '70 Judge. Saw one today. I was this close >< to stopping and writing the guy a check for whatever he wanted if I could just have it. :hail: :judge:

Ah Dah' genius. I know it's a Mustang.
It's just crap. You take a Mustang, and turn it into a GTO ( Brain Fart)

Sorry, 5point7 for the agressive nature of my previous post. The whole brain fart thing got me a bit riled up, when all I was doing was of a constructive opinion.
Some will like it, and some people wont.
Sorry brother. It's all sweet.

Sorry, not feeling it.
For me this is what the 08 GTO should look like. As a matter of fact the 04 GTO when re-introduced should have looked like this.

Perhaps it's just me, but when i see the front of a new Charger or Mustang I see too much.
Cars I like have the front grill dropped away from the hood and down into the front bumper.
http://www.fast-autos.net/astonmartin/vanquish14.html
And if you can't afford that.
http://www.fast-autos.net/mazda/04rx820.html
I love retro as much as the next person but you can't replace the original. With all of that crap sitting up front you're just holding the car back with wind resistance. Drop the front of the car down further and it just looks sleeker. The end of the hood should not hang over the bumper.
Edit: After actually reading the first post I can see someone agrees with me.

I know, I know I know it looks like a mustang. Personally I think my front end looks better than a Mustang, but I do like the fastback on the stang.
That other concept is just gross (not saying mine is any better) but wow, that is ugly.
I am kind of hoping the 08 is ugly, I will keep my 04 or get a used 06.

This has the classic "coke" bottle shape of the 66-67 GTO's, With a front end very reminscent of the 68-69's, a 69 style Judge wing, and of course the hood tach. It has all the clues, looks very impressive and yet not retro - I like it!

When I was at a show this past summer, a guy in his mid 30's came up to me and said something that I found very interesting...
"If they would have just stacked the headlights on this car (i.e. 65 - 67), it would have made all the difference in the world (in regards to styling)"
I've been trying to conceptually see that, but I just can't see what he was seeing. Anyone any good w/ photoshop that can make this happen with an 04 or 05, I'd love to see it.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Now just tweak for the necessary pontiac emblems. And chop off the extra two doors, of course.

Despite all these threads to the contrary, there will not be a 2008 GTO, or, for that matter, a 2007.

5point7,
Yeah, I'm an idiot alright. An idiot who worked on the Zetas for over two years, both GTO and Grand prix replacements before those projects were cancelled due to poor business cases. You should know more about the next-gen cars than me, that's for sure.

Yes you are and how do you know I don't? Yea.... You realize the GP and GTO are two different platforms right? Do you understand that?

Good for you.
"The rumblings I hear (not that they are on the level of some others here) are that GTO can be carried over for MY2007... and likely will... the strong sales of this year are a pretty big part of that, as well as preventing any gap in production from this model to the new GTO if at all possible."
Exactly. Trust me, there will be a next gen GTO. Perhaps NOT an 07 model, but a new gen 08. The only thing right this guy is saying, is that 06 will be the last year for the current gen (most likely).

My point is why do you chose to personally attack rlsedition? In those threads, most agreed that he indeed knows what he is talking about. He has proved time and again to be a good source of credible information and I appreciate what he contributes to this board. If you follow some of his previous posts, you might get an idea of his level of involvement with the GTO program and Pontiac. I'm not trying to start an argument-I'm just asking you to give the guy a break! I don't see any sense in alienating an insider.
And I'm not disagreeing with you that there will be a next generation GTO. Just sounds like it might be a while before we see it!

"You realize the GP and GTO are two different platforms right? Do you understand that?"
He says replacements with Zeta, which at the time were expected to be a shared platform although they are not currently and likely won't be in the future do to Zeta changes.
Man this board is thick with p!ss and vinegar.
