I installed a 160* Hypertech Thermostat so I changed my fan settings on my car.

What do you think of these settings?

Fan 1 off 166*

Fan 1 on 176*

Fan 2 off 180.3*

Fan 2 on 195.3*

What do you all think?

Thanks

Here are the proper fan temp settings for all the various thermostats. Take note of how the Fan 2 OFF temp overlaps with the Fan 1 ON temp (Celcius in parenthesis):

Stock Thermostat, lower your fan settings from the factory levels to:

FAN 1 ON/OFF: 209/200 (98.333/93.333)
FAN 2 ON/OFF: 219/210 (103.888/98.888)

180 Thermostat set to:

FAN 1 ON/OFF: 194/185 (90/85)
FAN 2 ON/OFF: 204/195 (95.555/90.555)

170 Thermostat set to:

FAN 1 ON/OFF: 189/180 (87.222/82.222)
FAN 2 ON/OFF: 199/190 (92.777/87.777)

160 Thermostat set to:

FAN 1 ON/OFF: 184/175 (84.444/79.444)
FAN 2 ON/OFF: 194/185 (90/85)

QUESTION: [I installed a Hypertech 160* thermostat into my 2004 Pontiac GTO.

What fan temperature settings does your company recommend?

Thank you

ANSWER:

I would suggest setting fan 1 on time at 186, off 179, fan2 on 195 and off 187.

Which one do I go with?

It's only a difference of a couple of degrees both ways. The predator recommendation will have the fans running less, and the engine hotter. The first the fans running more and the engine cooler.

I think this will be just a personal choice. Interested in what others have to say, but I'm thinking it may not matter which you go with.

Here's a question on setting the fan temps - do you have to do this using a custom tune with the Pred or can you modify their performance tune?

Sure you can "do it yourself" - No need for a custom tune for this change. Changed mine a couple of times and finally settled (Stock A4) - on the following settings:

[Low Speed]On:209°F / Off:200°F

[High Speed]On:219°F / Off:210°F
