Zeta has been canceled by GM

As I understand Zeta is still a go for AUS. If the 08 GTO stays made in AUS it may as well end up being Zeta.

If the 08 GTO shares chassis with the new Camaro it'll most likely be a modified Sigma-Lite possibly built here in the US.

It's all speculation so far though.

Personally, I hope that we get an AUS made Zeta GTO.

The mighty beancounter has the final word...anything else is pure speculation. IMO; once GM gets the SUV/trucks on the right track (biggest $$$makers) then they'll concentrate of getting "any" vehicles out the barn door. Cars have NEVER been a priority for GM.

Do you think that if they use the "Sigma-Lite" platform they will put a solid rear axle in the next gen Camaro's?? Considering the fact that the CTS-V's have a bad track record of breaking the IRS on the current Sigma platform.

Until a VE Coupe is announced, I'd bet on a Sigma derived GTO built here.

If Camaro is indeed announced at the '06 Detroit show, then that would probably mean a Sigma GTO, also.

I would also like an AU designed and built car.

Camaro will most likely get a soild rear axle as they are cheaper, and for a camaro to sel they need to bring the cost down to the level of the mustang but still have more power then the stang.

my understanding is Zeta is cancelled for US application but there has been talk about a version or variant of the Sigma that could be used for a future GTO and Chevy of some type... Camaro or Chevelle is unknown... hell, practically everything is unknown and uncertain with all the rumors goign around... Heck, i dont know if its true but ive heard rumors of a 425 HP LS3 6.3 Litre that will be used for cadillac but could be used for a High Performance GTO or something...

bassically lots of talk (enough to write books on prolly) but no facts really known yet (unless there is an inside person who knows, but you know whaty i mean)

Interesting. I wonder how accurate it is, but at least it seems more current than the articles that were running about the next gen GTO when Zeta was cancelled/delayed for the U.S.

My $$$ is on GM bringing the GTO back to the US both designed and built here in a similar fashion as our Corvette...too much at stake for that nameplate to be outsourced; sedans will be built in Aussieland. Zeta or otherwise; RWD is set in stone. And next gen GTO's will generate more traffic for Pontiac to an all new level...my predictions...IMO!
