UPDATED INFO: We have 30+ People registered! Tickets remain free. The track activity with us having one lap access in our own cars has been confirmed!

There is a one time opportunity for the members here, Pontiac will have a lot of resources at Mid-Ohio on the 27th of August. We wanted to do something special for the event.

We will have access to Pontiac's Hospitality area for the entire day of Saturday. This not only means upfront action to the team and the cars but breakfast, lunch, and dinner is taken care of as well.

http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/attachment.php?attach mentid=18254&stc=1

We have the opportunity to eat lunch with the drivers, and listen to engineers from Pratt & Miller and GM Performance go over the GTO•R race car, maybe a little of the Daytona Prototype, and I've asked if maybe someone from the engineering team that is in charge of the GTO could come as well.

http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/attachment.php?attach mentid=18255&stc=1

We will even have an opportunity to have a pit tour during the qualifying in the morning as they practice.

After the track is clear there is a high possibility that we will have some time to bring our own GTO's on the track for a lap and to take some pictures.

Now here is the good part. What would you expect to pay for this once in a life time opportunity? $50? $100? .... how about nothing?

I ask the following, please only register if you are serious about attending. While attending please represent the board well and realize this is a one time only event, next year we might be able to organize something on a smaller scale by ourselves. And lastly to enjoy yourself!

PM me or email jon@ls1gto.com for registration details.

http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/attachment.php?attach mentid=18253&stc=1

2nd e-mail: Was to confirm that I would be attending with anyone else & if I would be in my GTO.

In regard to the event, registration will begin at 9:00 am. Everyone can pick up his or her credentials at Will-Call (will be there to meet you and give you a track map). You will proceed to the Hospitality area, park your cars and have breakfast.

The rest of the schedule is still being finalized and as soon as it is, I will forward it to DY and have it posted. I will also send out an email to those who registered and provided an email address.

Please note that there will be a pit tour. Per Grand American, you must wear long pants, closed toe shoes and no sleeveless shirts.

Or
Will there be an opportunity to WOT?
I know, I would like the chance to do 100+ mph, which is risky on public roads for many reasons. I realize most of us aren't professional drivers, but I would hope we are responsible drivers.
I know some of us has already driven over 65 mph.

"Under no circumstances are spectators permitted to cross fences or go on-course at any time."
So is it punishable by death if you were to drive a car on the track ;) It's not our fault they can't even follow their own rules!!!
I wouldn't be surprised to see a quick little "before the race several GTOs took the track" clip televised, I'm setting the VCR!
Dan- hope you are able to catchup with the Chitown Goats and get a co-pilot! Have a safe trip and see ya there!!
Lance- I think I still owe you a beer from Nationals '04 when we were in the bar Saturday just before the rainstorms blew into Pontiac!
Don't know about 4 hours south of here, but today premium in Mid-Michigan just went from 2.75 back up to 2.95... wooohooo... fookers!!
If they do show that kind of clip, you are obligated to post the vid somewhere. I guess the gas price crap would catch up to me. Or, I would go catch up to it.

Will we have seating in the stands? I just found out how difficult it is to pack for a family of four with that spacious GTO trunk! No room for the folding chairs.

The event was great! Here's some pictures I took - they're all 1024x768. Not sure how to make thumbnails, so if you look at these, each one is a little over 200KB. The last one is from a Scion xB (one of those minivan/suv/station wagon things - quite funny).

WOW!! What a great day!! Talk about getting the "red carpet" treatment - this was top shelf!! Weather was a little iffy, but just before the GTO parade lap - it was perfect!

Thanks to LS1GTO.com, Kirsten Sonneville from TMG Sport Marketing and Pontiac Motor Division for sponsoring an event none of us will soon forget!!

I took a bunch of pics, too, but looks like everybody did!! Some posted in the "Lounge" section, too...

Thanks,again, EVERYBODY! :hail:

Got home a while ago, and just finished cleaning up the car. It's amazing what 370(X2) miles, bugs, rain, fog, mud and living in the car can do to a "show-room" finish.
Hats off to DY...many thanks to Kirsten, Christine and the Pontiac Guys.

Now, I'm spoiled, damn it.

I woke up at 1am Saturday morning and arived home at 2:30 am Sunday. No sleep for 25.5 hours. Worth every waking hour.

Thanks to everyone who put this on. Kirsten, you and your team did a fantastic job. I expected a few hours of down time throughout the day but just as I was finishing up one thing the next started. Outstanding. This is by far my favorit type of racing and it was my first time watching it live. And now I am watching on DVR :)

I've had the pleasure of hospitality in the past at various races but this was by far the best, hands down. Thanks also to Kirsten, Christine and Pontiac. Also, need to say thanks to Shane and the others with TRG. I've never had a crew more willing to chat, very cool indeed.

I've been attending races at MidOhio for maybe 10 years and to actually get on track finally was freakin phenomenal!

Pretty cool talking to TRG Team Manager Mike Johnson (Former "Real World" cast member). Now how many times have you been asked..."aren't you the guy from Real..."

Thank you all at Mid Ohio Race Track. By far One of the best days I have had in recent memory. The race teams were all very patient while we all milled around the pits and garage area. Every little detail was thought of to make for a perfect day. The food, driver autograph session, Tech talk in the garage....The sun came out for our parade lap ( Thank YOU GTO GODS) I got to put a few more faces with the screen names (Mister Mike you Rock) Ryan it was good to see you again. I didn't think you would go any place near where DY would be after being shot in St Loius :gr_jest: :gr_jest:

Kristen Thank you very much. It was well worth two hours sleep in the last 36 to make the trip from Wisconsin :p

You guys are breakin my balls... :)

I'm going to work something out... I just need to figure out a way for everyone to access teh 170MB of images without pushing our monthly traffic into the terrabyte range. In other words, the files are huge and the datacenter would be pretty pissed if everyone was trying to download the entire collection.

I will problably setup smaller images and then people can request which ones they want or something.

I might have a way..........MY yahoo account has room to hold them and I could just put up the link

Or everyone that wants the 170 megs could send you a SASE with a blank cd

I can host this without issue. We just had a second T1 installed and it wont even be used until December. I can toss a webserver on it in 30 minutes.

Let me know if thats what you want to do. We do not pay for badwidth usage.
