Lap around the track was pretty cool, they took a picture of all of us lined up and we should have a copy next week.

I maybe hit 65 at the most, they had a pace car in front of the group limiting our speed.

I would love to try the track at a good clip, it seems like a very nice track.

we only got to go round once, there was a cop blocking the track so we couldnt go back around :mad:

GM / Pontiac put on a great event, it was a good turnout (30 + GTO's and 70 some people). I am sure others will post soon.

OH - SPEED should be showing the race tomorrow at noon eastern time.

GM did this right. This is the closest we came to again feeling like a real part of the race. We used to be with the Oliver Garden 550 Maranello Team in ALMS. What came through loud and clear is that GM had a real interest in us as enthusiasts and was doing everything they could to keep up our interest and energy. Lots of looks from passers-by when they walked past the GTO Corral prominently located at the track. Breakfast, lunch, dinner; Tech Talk with Pratt Miller in the garage; walk through pits during practice, the lap of the track..................all first rate.

I'm in the same boat with you as far as not being able to get the video off my tape. I did get a vid of one of the Pontiac prototype racers dynoing at the track. I was standing ~15-20 feet away from it when it went full bore throttle. People were putting their fingers in their ears, I was grinnin' from ear to ear. :gr_devil: I got several pics of the Orange also. I agree, not my first choice in color. It did begin to grow on me as the day went on. Give me about an hour, I'll see if I can get some of this stuff posted.

As for video, I can transfer it to an mpeg file for you if it's mini-DV. Only problem is that with 500 lines of resolution on the mini-DV tape, the files are fairly large (they look fantastic though). But I can create the mpeg file for you, no problem. Just PM me if you want to do this, you can send me the tape and I can convert it and then send the tape back.

I talked to the guy that is the head of the GTO division, told him I'd buy a GTO with the 7.0L Z06 engine. I think he was a little surprised that anyone would want that considering that the GTO hasn't sold real well so far.

Everyone watch the race on TV and see if you can spot the LS1GTO.com stickers on the GTO-R's ... hopfully they will air a incar shot too ;) The guys are very nice over there. I will post an official thank you later today as well as a consolidated thread for pictures in the GTO-R area of this forum.

I just woke up, but I did not sleep at all on Friday night, we drove straight in (left at 3am) and then strait back and I got home @ 2am. So I'm going to go back to bed and catch up on my sleep.

Cyclone grey was the only color not there I believe. And the race car is nothing like our cars, it has a tubular chassis, the radiator is shaped and positioned differently. There is no way to have such a OTR design on the street car.

DY... I just gotta say WOW...Great job putting this on. Hopefully there will be another event just like this, that we can attend. Whatcha think? Will Pontiac throw something like this again? Maybe in the South East?

Not this same size. I know the team would love to have GTO owners show their support and come to the races - but the parade lap, hospitality services, and tech talks will problably not be included.

And really, it was all Pontiac, TMG, and TRG. All I did was make a few posts.

Can you transfer them to DVD-R? I presume that if you can't turn them into files for the computer, you couldn't turn it into files to put onto DVD-R in order to transfer to the computer.

I just got in the door. I had to spend the night In Indiana. No sleep in 24 hours makes for blurred driving. I am up loading pics now and will set a link A.S.A.P. I was able to get the pics of the crash in the esses WOW!! I was reviewing the in car in slow motion. When the camera pans to the wall There I am in the yellow hole in the fence snapping pics. Jon ryan and Pj are in the pic too. We are all kinda hard to make out but trust me it was us :D

I got the drivers of the GTO-R'S to sign my dash plate :hail: :hail:

I just realized I shot over 200 pics :rolleyes: I wont edit them so I can get them up quicker.

WOW!, is all I have to say. I came down with Openwheel in his 05 GTO. Big thanks to him for bringing me along. I can honestly say I've never been to an event like this. As testament to the other posts here, I can't think of anything that the Pontiac guys missed. Big thanks to Kirsten, Pontiac, and the rest of the series for making us feel so welcome.

As Openwheel stated, there are a ton of pics. I ended up getting to spend some time with the #4 team earlier in the day, meeting their crew chief, owner, drivers, etc. and getting a special tour through their garage and getting up close and personal with the car. I was also able to take some podium pics and congratulate the team afterwards. Thanksk to Openwheel for the extra time! =)

I can't believe how accessible all of these drivers and teams were. I spent a couple hours going through the pits Saturday afternoon chatting with a lot of the drivers and teams. Awesome setup they have going in that series. I watch these guys every Saturday they're on, but ya' better believe I'll be making an extra special effort to get to the track to experience more of this series.

I've just recently joined the forum, and it was great meeting several of you. Great group of guys, and I can't wait until I purchase my GTO later this year. Can't wait until the next meet!

Great event....I can't say enough but already posted my thanks so I'll skip repeating myself.

As for the orange..dissappointing...these pictures don't do it justice. The pics look much better then the car does in person. Way more rust looking in person but then again it was a cloudy day and the purple looks black in the pics so that does play a part in it. But when you saw the pace cars next to it.....wow!! I would like to see one in the orange color the pace car had! That was sharp, the yellow orange effect it had!!

The other highlight (for me anyway) was the Hurst prototype in the Tiger.
I have to have it now!!! Hurst please...produce this!!!

What an awesome event!!
Can't wait until the next and the summer is running out!!
.......no not storage!!! already!!

It was truly awesome. All first class. I had the torrid with the sap spoiler. 31 GTOs in all. 24 m6s and 7 autos. The brazen orange was not good at all in my opinion. The orange on the Woodward looks great. I pissed my pants when they started the Woodward and reved it up some. That thing is incredible. Kirsten was great, Many thanks. I would travel 1000 miles to anything like this again.

yeah, I have a 3Mb/768Kb DSL, so I could convert them, take out stuff you don't want, and put it on your server. Or, I could put it on a DVD-R and send it to you.

You can't knock the Canon. Mine didn't do too bad. Battery charge sinks like the gas guage on the GTO. :gr_jest: If it wasn't for the dial-up connection, my prototype vid would be up. :banghead:

HOLY CRAP! TALK ABOUT DIGGING UP AN OLD THREAD!

I got the tools required to transfer from tape to computer. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL! Right now, 4 vids. One big, 3 are smaller parts of the big one. These are of the GTO-R on the dyno. Give me, maybe, a day & the tour lap will come up.
