GTOOOOH was kind enough to photoshop how the stock rims look painted black. I love the way it came out, but I wanted some feedback to see what you folks think of how it looks.

I offer my opinion only because you asked...
I don't care for them. But I also don't like the stock rims, no matter the color.
Your avatars, on the other hand, are consistently hot.

I asked for peoples opinions, so I appreciate the honesty. If you think the rims look like crap or look good, then please tell me. This is why I wanted to see how other GTO owners feel about the look.

I dont like black wheels on a black car. Hate the stockers also.

I like the look of the blk on blk. Thats what I plan on doing at some point just need a couple of wheels to start with so I can rotate the black ones in. (daily driver)

I saw someone photocrop the inner rim with black and the left the rest of the rim silver/gunmetal color...that looked good
But personally I think all black makes it look like a spare tire, the silver lip helps stop that look somewhat...
I like the stock wheels and think the black finish works well depending on the car color/trim level. I don't like it on spoilerless yellow cars, for instance. It looks fine on the 'shopped black car pic you posted, though.

I am personally persuing a blackout on my PB 04. But not the wheels. I just don't think it looks good. Too much black is kinda sick looking (not the good sick). You need some silver in there to break it up a little.
I would suggest some black line details on the rims if you absolutely must.

I think it looks badass. Black is the new chrome. haha

I'm not a fan of powdercoating the stock rims. They just don't look right with the stock rims flower petal look IMO. I think a black chrome might look nice.

i like the look and would like to try it on a set of aftermarket wheels i have for my pulse red (and keep lip silver). Would i have to powder coat them black for it to look good, or would be it possible to spray paint them myself and have them look decent ? opinions ?

with the stock rims maybe a two-tone would be a good look, I dunno, I kinda like them, but since I really don't like the stock design of the wheel we got, I may be biased in the back of my mind

i like it with the silver lip, but you're gonna need to get them painted black to get the desired look. no problem with that, our rims are painted right now, but you'll need to clear them and have someone you trust to mask them off...

My friend works at his dads bodyshop and does really good work. This will be done over the wintertime.

i was thinking of doing a red lip, but the stock rim really doesnt have a lip. I think if you go for it, it wont look as good as a soild color.

I wanted the lip to remain the stock color to set it off. You are right, there really isn't any.

There are a few combos I like the cheddar cheese ones are good and oh boy the pizza ones are fantastic!. Oh wait where was I? Oh yeah? I like the black on black, and yellow and black. A few pbm's look good with black that I have seen here but that's partly because of rim style AND color.. BTW Tpr How's the peg leg coming along???????????

I would have to agree also. These factory black wheels dont look so good. Looks like you lost your plastic silver cover on your steel wheels.
IF you can get someone to create that silver lip, that would look really good. That will be difficult to do right, I think.

its not that you cant do it but the lip around the rim is flat, there is no lip
heres a super bad chop job http://ls1gto.com/forums/attachment.php?attachment id=19584&stc=1
see the spokes lay flat so , i think that would look just stupid to go around the rim like that. if you going to do some painting do a custom job that will look neat. Me and my bro had a custom paint idea it would of worked but it will take someone very good and alot of time. Good luck with your quest.

Never liked them. They make the wheels look dirty (IMHO)

Not a fan of black or gun metal color wheels because...looks like you lost your hub caps from a distance and can't see them when it starts getting dark out. I had gun metal on a car and regretted it almost as soon as I got them.

The black wheels on a black car can look pretty good. As long as you can have the silver "lip", I'd say do it.
