I have Toyo Proxies T1-S and they fit fine.

yes, you can get them on the wheel. It would be advisable only if your using a drag radial, as a tire that wide on a rim of that size will cause some lack of stability.

Not properly. 275 tires need at least 9" rims according to my handy tire book.

k.k.

I have Nittos DR's 275/40/17's on my '05 and the fit fine. No problem with cornering or hard bumps...On a hard launch (when the rear squats) they get close to the fender well but still do not rub. Keep in mind EVERYONE is different.

i had bf goodrich kdws in 275 size, and they fit, looked cool, but over 50 mph they were violently unstable, car back end was wagging all over the highway, too much sidewall movement because they are stretched into a trapezoid shape instead of the rectangle

I had Nitto DRs in a 275/40/17 mounted to the stock wheels, and they fit fine, with no rubbing.

Now I run 275/40/17 MT ET Streets on the stock wheels for teh track only and they fit fine with no rubbing on a rolled fender lip!

Not on the car, but here are the Nitto 6555 Drag Radials in 275x40x17 on stock rims. They are pretty skinny; my Khumo Ecsta 275x40x17 street tires are noticibly wider than these, but both fit on stock rims, and in my wheel wells. I lowered the car, which required a little fender rolling but at stock height, shouldn't be an issue, at least it wouldn't have been on my car.

Oh, and these are for sale in the Parts for Sale thread. ;)
