Any rubbing of the fenders?

245/45/17.
I tried them out on the street at 30 psi. Dropped the clutch at 4K, and WHAM!!! Its hooked HARD!!! I hope its the same on the track. No more getting sideways on the 1-2 shift! YAY!

No rubbing, main reason I didnt go with the 275 was because my stock BFs were already hitting the fenders.

You used to get SIDEWAYS on your 1 to 2 shift?
Hell, I can barely "chirp" my tires on the 1 to 2 shift.............
I really need to get this car on a dyno, 'cause she sure feels slow.........

Damn, with those timeslip numbers in your sig, if you can get her to hook you will be in the 12's as she sits. I'm surprised, I'm running 275 Nitto's with no rub at all.

Houston, I think you have a problem...you should be able to fry tires on the 1-2...hell, I can...

nsofokles, those are Nitto 555r drag radials and that size can be had in the neighborhood of $150 a piece. You can get them cheaper on Ebay though.
So my question is this (not trying to hi-jack this thread here)... why do most of the '05 wheels that I've been seeing look like they've been clear-coated?? Did they start doing that at the factory now? I bet that really helps make cleaning the wheels much easier with such a slick surface!
I noticed this though when a bunch of us got together last month at Maryland International Raceway. Most (not all) of the '05s had what looked to be clear-coated wheels and all of us '04s were just dull looking. If anyone knows anything about this please chime in!
But nice tires though... I'm wanting to get the 275/40/17 tires but I'm worried they're going to rub. I need Bone to grind off my fender lip like he did to his! Let us know how they do at the track for ya!

My buddy had 275s, and without rolling the fenders, you WILL rub. I was eating those tires up. Every shift, I could hear it inside the car biting.

Yes, all 2005 and 2006 Goats have the 17" wheels clearcoated, as the 2004's do not.

Bet you have low miles don't you?!?!

I can tell you that my car woke up sooooo much after 1500 miles! These cars gain power as you break them in. My car has gained 1 mph in the 1/4, after putting on 6K. Im thinkin Im putting out about 360rwhp. Maybe less, I dunno, but it put out 356rwhp with just maf screen removal and 1010k on the odo. I was trapping high 106's. Now that I got 7k, it consistantly traps high 108's!!! Wait a few thousand miles, and watch er wake up!

You should be able to roast the tires on the 1-2 shift without any break-in. I know as soon as my salesman delivered it to my house I was out the door spinning the hell out of them, but the reason I did this is probably because I am an ex-slverado SS AWD owner so I was deprived for about a year.:burnout:

my car stock wouldnt even spin the tires from a stop with 3000miles on it.
it also ran 13.8 (04 A4) stock first time out at track so it didnt bother me any..
Usually spinning = loosing :)

I'd rather not spin, just me though. But hey, when it comes showing off, Christine has no problem doing it.
