I just picked up some nitto 555r's last night 275-40-17. Look great. Did one hell of a burnout in discount tires's parking lot.

After I got home, I was worried about rubbing, didnt hear any but they look so close it scares me.

My test. I had a buddy of mine get in the car and brake torque the car and have the rear go down. I had about 3/8 inch (or less maybe a 1/4) of a space between the fender and the tire. I then took the car to a parking lot and did some 1500rpm launches. I didnt hear any rub nor did I see any after I looked. These tires are ridiculously close.. I know I have read every thread on here about these tires and only seen ONE rub issue. I'm scared for taking the "lady" to the track tomorrow. REALLY SCARED

They are a tight fit the first day I put mine on I had to take the parents to the airport on my way to the track. With 600 LB's of people and another 200LB's of luggauge I was worried but I didn't have any rubbing. Just make sure when you are running them on the street you have them at or above 30 PSI and you should be fine.

Do you have the Koni's? These will dispel any issues because they really help reduce the "squat"

no.. just the stockers with the nittos. all mods are in sig besides nittos. I'm really hoping for a 60' better than 2.09..

Ewwwww, be carefull on the first day, but I guess I'm to late for that. I hope you didn't break the seal between the tire and the wheel, it needs to seat before you should start spinning them, they could actually spin on the wheel. Just keep an eye on them. I have the same tires, and I never had them rub, and they worked GREAT at the track, 17psi, a good roasting in the water box, and you're good to go for a great launch, good luck!!!

ROKS, I love that picture of your MPD hood, eric is great to work with. I previously had the MPD F1 hood for the grand prix.

-I did drive about 10 minutes then came back to discount tire to check the rubbing issue. Didnt see any then played a little. On the 10 mile drive home, I had the mind thinking more about the rubbing and it bothered me, thats when I did my little "test".

That's cool bro, I did the exact same thing you did, I lit them up in the tire's shop parking lot for the guys that worked there, lol, lol. Then someone here told me about the tire spin on the wheel, so I thought I'd pass it on to you. Don't you love how sticky they get, even just driving around you can hear the sand being kicked up.

Thanks for the comps on the Hood, yup Eric and his wife Mellisa was really great to work with, and the GP hood are just as nice, your's must have looked mean as hell, I had a '98 GTP before the GTO, I only wished I knew about them before I traded it in......

ROKS - we had to have the same set up.. I also had a 98gtp. x-pcam intense heads and some other work netted 12.60's now only if that car was in rear wheel. Wait I basically have that now. Now i just need to hit 12.60's in the gto!!

Hey wolf, what size rims are they? 17x8? or 17x9?
I'm doing the same on monday with 17x8 rims. I'm not sure how 275's stuffed on 8" rims will look/fit.

They are on the stock rims. 17x8.. The look is great. Nice fat tire (for the rim size). Fit is exactly how I said above.. CLOSE! Actually if you see ROKS photos on his link.. He has some great photos of how the tires look.
