This could have been the next Grand Prix (or G8) until Zeta cars were cancelled for the US. It looks really good without the camo, but does not have the "look at me!" effect that the Chrysler 300 has.

I'm not a 300 fan either, but the great American masses have spoken - the car's a sales winner in the US. What Chrysler really accomplished is to raise the styling bar for any new performance sedan - if it doesn't cause eyebrows to raise on exterior appearance, its a failure.

they didnt do anything except make a cheap imitation Rolls Royce. America is full of posers and wannabes, thats why it sells.

Actually, tens of thousands of car buyers disagree that the 300 and its cousins are sinfully ugly. Subjective taste in design is one thing, as I don't particularly care for the 300 either. However, I applaud ChryslerBenz for doing something bold and risky design-wise. I wish we saw more of that from GM pencils...and NOT crap like the Aztec and Monte Carlo/Impala of the last few years.

So we will not see ANY of these new Holdens in the US, GTO or otherwise? And the Zeta for US is cancelled so we will not see that platform here? And they wont use the Caddy platform? So we may something off the platform under the Solstice but not likely? Soooo, to summarize we aren't getting anything interesting from GM in the next 5 years plus...........
.............Althought the UAW thing has some issue, I still think we have a strong Product Problem at GM. Caddy seems ok, Hummer is Niche, Chevy will be Chevy. The GMC, Pontiac Buick combo will see some cuts so as to not have overlap. But in the end what does Buick and Pontiac offer (GMC is a who cares in my mind) then we have Saturn which is lost as some sort of import fighter and our poor old Saab which is on the way down at this rate.
The trucks GM hopes to have save it are fine and all but what car outside of Caddy and the Vette does anyone care about? The Cobalt is nice and fits Chevy well and the HHR is a nice "me too" thing for the retro fad (which is on the way out right?) But Pontiac and Buick have nothing and nothing in the pipe. Sad.
Chrysler should be fine now with the Benz platform hand-me-down program. A great idea that GM could use. Just take the Caddy stuff and hand it down for RWD when the new Caddy platform is out. But what really kills me and will kill GM is that they can't produce Zeta/RWD platform that is competitive and profitable. Holy cow!

If you are frustrated, what about those of us who spent over two years and many long trips to Oz, only to have the program cancelled (I left GM)?
There is still a team of engineers trying to figure out how to make a good business case out of a Sigma/Zeta mix, but I don't know if they will succeed.
I know that GM needs/wants some affordable RWD cars out there, both sedans and coupes. We'll all have to wait to see if they can pull it off financially.

Leaving GM was probably about all that was left to you RLS. Christ I hear now they are even talking about off-loading GMAC so that they don't bring down one of the few profitable properties they own! The beancounters should be held accountable for what they've done to GM over the past 20 years, but they never will be. With damn few (but some glorious) exceptions like the Corvette, Caddy V program and the GTO, most GM vehicles today suck raw ass, are mediocre harbingers of middle-of-the-road design paralysis. Meanwhile, Japan, Korea and Europe are brimming with exciting new designs and performance even during this current fuel crunch.
Design and Engineering are the only two disciplines that could save GM but the beancounters will ride this beast into the trashheap of History. Truly Sad.
