I've done a search and read some comments on the Kuhmo 711's and 712's but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Ecsta ASX's. I live in an area that gets snow (can't afford a second car) so I have to go with an all-season tire and I need something with a decent treadwear rating (again, money reasons). I don't race my GTO but do a little "spirited" driving sometimes. Any input you guys have based on my needs would be appreciated.

I hhave had these tires for about 1000 miles now. They have great dry and wet traction. I have not drove in snow yet. For the price they are a great tire.

Im working on about 6k on these tires. No snow yet, but I'm pleased so far. They are a bit louder than the stockers when you spin'm or shift hard though.

How are they in the rain? I know 6K isn't a lot of miles but do you have any opinion on treadwear? Thanks.

I had them in 16" on my SHO. Loved them over my Dunlop SP5000s, much better traction. Same rubber compound as the Ecsta 712s but more tread wear (300 vs 450 if I recall right). My SPs would grip well but once they lost traction, I had to let off the gas to get it back. The ASX's I could keep the peddle down and they would regain traction. I could do first gear full excelerations with the ASX that the Dunlops would spin for. I got rid of the car prior to snow coming, so I couldn't answer the question about snow. Rain was no problem. This was on my 1995 - 191 FWHP/ 195 FWTQ 5 speed SHO.

Nobody has had tire quality issues???? I had Kuhmo Tires on my passat and got bubbles and uneven wear all of the time. Every 5K miles I got 2 new tires free because of something. (Fronts) I have had 3 blowouts....

I have a set of 235/50/17 on the wife's Altima 3.5. Infinitely better than the Turanzas that were on there... Only have about 1K on them, so don't have a lot of experience, but I do like them. They are good in the rain too. I've heard that Kumho's quality is hit or miss, but mine seem to be ok. *knock on wood*

so far the wear looks pretty good, better than the stock BFG's. Wet traction is pretty good too.

Like them a lot.... Much better than the BFG's... Live in Denver and have not had them in the snow yet. In the rain they work great...

wolfdogs has chimed in about Kumho tires... not in a favorable way. Let's put it this way, he's a tire engineer for the U.S. government... I think the last tires I'd put on my car would be Kumho's...
