From US News & World Report:
"Everybody wants good gas mileage–especially with prices close to $3 per gallon. But many Americans also expect performance and pizazz out of their cars. Now, U.S. News has developed an exclusive "muscle per gallon" index, based on data provided by Kelley Blue Book, that ranks nearly 500 vehicles according to a combination of power and fuel economy. To compute our index scores, we multiplied each vehicle's city gas-mileage rating by its peak horsepower and divided by 100. The rankings help consumers compare which cars offer the most and least power per gallon of burned fuel."

The GTO placed 23 of 477 vehicles. To see the whole article and chart:

It's kinda odd that a Toyota hybrid is at the top, followed by a ton of world class sports cars.

well its a hybird with a decent amount of power
but look at the prices
if it wasnt for hybrids, exotics, and others(over 45k)
gto would be #1 or close to it

Yup the GTO is the cheapest out of those top 23. They should have included price in their Muscle per Gallon figure.

so did the mpg drop on the 05's? cause as i recall it was listed at 17 city 25 hwy, which is pretty close to what i get when not playing around. if they would have used 17mpg for city which i believe is what it is supposed to be, the GTO would be tied for 15th place. makes me feel a little better anyhow. :gr_jest:

Almost every car besides the GM cars are either hybrids or forced inducted super engines. This test is stupid.
