That is the maximum inflation pressure. It will actually ride like ass at that pressure.

Try 35 all the way around, as specified on the sticker on the passenger door frame of your car. Should work fine.

I use 'em too but in 245/40/18. Usually run 36-37 psi. Pumped them up to 44 for Road America.

im running 35 psi but it just looks like there still low.... tire size are 245/40/18 , im asking about psi cause i have tire wear on my outside left tire and inside right tire and seems like there rollin in or is it that im going to fast around sharp turns?

Keep in mind that the 35psi listed on the door frame is for the stock 245/45/17 tires. Those have more volume than the 245/40/18. Your car rides on a cushion of air, and it will need more pressure in a lower volume tire to provide the same amount of support. Hence, why it makes sense to put a few more psi in the lower profile tire (to me anyway). Plus, manufacturers typically set the pressure as a compromise between ride quality (lower psi is cushier), gas mileage (higher psi is better), handling (higher is typically more responsive), tire wear (even wear across the surface of the tire), etc...

Personally, I think 35 psi is too low in a 245/40/18 for the GTO. YMMV. :)

See my earlier post in this thread. I run about 37 psi... 40 makes the car ride too rough for my girlfriend's liking. :)

Doc's setting would be fine in my book as well if you want to fine tune the handling of the car.

Tire store put my new F1's at 40 all around. Rides kinda rough for my tastes........thinking of dropping 'em down to around 35.

did you need to roll the fenders for that tire? i have a thr'd that the bfg's kdw's dont fit, and that the 451's seem a slight bit narrow'r than the bfg's, assuming the 512's would be the same as the 451's as far as width, i also have 18's, and am interested, 2nd with those tires do you get much wheel spin off the line, the 451's on a 70-90 degree day i get almost no wheel spin, but like all gto's i can smoke em' if i want???

i have the 451's, been running them at 34 psi, works great for me, but they are two different tread designs,

I think the 451's are a little more aggressive than the 512's (more contact surface on the 451's). I chose the 512 as it's a lightweight tire, has decent performance characteristics (I used them for 14 laps at Road America), and is good for daily driving (grooves for rain, etc...). They aren't a drag radial, but are no worse than other types of bargain peformance tires. I'll likely get another set. :)

Didn't have to roll anything on my fenders with 18x8.5 with 40 offset Privat Profiles and 245/40/18 Falken 512's. Others with the same wheel but different tire have had to...

Well I put some on mine yesterday (512's) and discount tire said to put them @ 41. (235-40-18). Well just have to see how they ride at that psi then adjust accordingly till the GS-D3's go back on...Dave

I just got new Falken's and they put 35 PSI in them. I have been meaning to double check the tire and adjust accordingly.
