Hello
New Guy. I live in the frozen hell most call Wisconsin. I'm looking at picking up four 16" wheels and tires to swap out. I was wondering if you knew if a 16" BMW 5x120 with a 20mm offset would fit my 04 GTO. The rims have 225/55/16 tires on now and are off a new M series.
Otherwise anybody have any suggestions for any oem wheel or other options?
Thanks for any help,
Marty

The rims from the regular BMW 3 series (or E36 M3) will have the correct offset and fit without a problem, though...

The chassis number is E46 not E36 and the E46 M3 wheels will not fit. base 3 series from the E46 chassis will fit. by the way the base E46 wheels have a larger offset than M wheels

Wheels from the E36 M3 (1995-2000) and any other E36 car will fit as they have the same offset as the regular E46 323, 328, 330... The only ones you have to worry about not fitting are the E46 M3 (2001+). Sorry if that wasn't clear before...

I dunno I'd try them if you could. I've heard BMW 3 series wheels fit fine. I don't know much about offset (confusing to me) but I've heard people go as low as 38mm without mods. Stock is 48mm on a 8" wheel but a 7" wheel (if thats what those are) should allow more room for smaller offset. I agree that they would look terrible but if your looking to fit snowtires on a budget it would be a good idea. Snowy roads will make your car look bad anyway. You might be able to pickup some stock GTO 17s for just as cheap though if you want easy swapability. I have a set sitting in my garage myself (not for sale) so I think plenty other owners might too.

I got a set of 15" Borbet wheels that were winter wheels on a 93 325. They still have a year left in the Blizzaks. They look strange, but when it's on the ground, it isn't too terrible. For $100 for wheels and tires I couldn't pass it... Poor Goat is all covered in salt right now. Supposed to snow tomorrow too. It plows pretty good through the snow though, well until I hit that TC button... Must be the Terribly Cool button, cause it sure is fun when it's off.

Depends on the width of the wheel (which everyone seems to have forgotten ;) ). With only a 225mm wide tire, on a 20 offset wheel, if that wheel is 6.5" or 7" wide, it probably will fit fine. Do you know how wide the wheel is?

3 series wheels have 40mm offset (I think) and will work fine
5 series have 20mm and will stick out.
look at my sig,,those are 3 series BMW rims on the back of my car

Hmmm... I've got a set of 4 16" TSWs with winter tires that I took off the wife's E46 325i that we sold. I need to sell them and never thought to see if they fit the Goat.
If I get ambitious I might try to bolt one up to confirm!

Appletonrc. Did those bolt on with no mods? What size tire are you running? Did they throw the speedo off? By how much? What kind of snow have you been thru? You found one hell of a deal!!!
Thanks to everyone for putting your info/opinions in.
