Well guys, I have been trying and trying to understand the tire sizes around here lol, but have had no luck. I still don't know what type of offset I need, or anything like that.
From what I've gathered, the largest tires you can get for these babies are 275's...right? Now with that in mind, what can I get as far as rims, that will not rub?
I will be looking into some type of black rim with chrome lip, so if you can specify any of those type, that'd be great...but if not, that's okay too!
I'm just mainly looking for what kind of tire and what kind of rim I am looking for as far as size.
thanks!

If you want 275s out back, you're going to need to either roll fenders or have a set of custom wheels cut with the right offset.
the stock offset is +48mm....if you want to run 275s WITHOUT fender rolling, you need something an offset that's numerically larger. by the way, don't even try to put anything larger than 245s up front.
many people on here are running staggered setups with 18x8s/245s up front and 18x9 or 18x9.5 out back with 275s. 19s are an option too.
Many of the off-the-shelf type wheels that'll fit on a GTO have a +40mm offset for the 8" wide models and a +45 to +50mm on the 9s/9.5s. the +40s will usually fit fine up front provided you stick to 235s or 245s. the +45 wheels will usually NOT fit in the rear without rolling the fender lips.
as far as actual wheel suggestions.....there are a million choices. You won't find too many black and chrome choices but black w/ machined lips or black w/ polished lips are plentiful. I myself have charcoal grey w/ polished lips.
if you've got the money, Todd@AZ Power and Sound is advertising a sale on Boyd coddingtons right now.
here are my Boyd F22s in 17"...(a set in black rather than grey would look badass in my opinion).

hope this sheds some light on the topic.....wheels are a pretty complicated thing with these cars because of the limited fitments, weird offsets, limited tire sizes etc...

Thanks for all that info, it did help quite a bit.
So I basically can't run 275's without fender rolling? (how much does that cost by a body shop, roughly?)
Also, I'd like to find 10 inch rims for the back and 9 up front, or maybe even 8.5's, any suggestions?

I suggest you go custom, but that will cost ya,fender rolling isnt expensive, but you need to make sure who ever is doing it knows what they are doing, our fenders are thick.

you CAN run 275s without rolling, but you'll need custom wheels. you're not going to find an off-the-shelf design with the high a positive offset.
10s in the back are DOABLE (some members on here have 10" CCW 505s in the rear) but not necessary at all. In fact a 275 might look a little bit stretched on a 10" wheel. My 9.5 inch wheels on my Z28 looked PERFECT with a 275. 9s would be just about perfect too.
as far as a 9" in the front.....no point really. even if you can get the wheel to fit, the tire still has to stay at about 245. again you'd just end up with more wheel than you need.
I still suggest 8s in front and 9s out back. ;)

Well I could definately do 8's in the front and 9 or 9.5's out back.
That's why i'm asking you guys, because I have no idea lol.
I've been going to the same body shop for years now, and they do very good work, but i'm not sure if they do fender rolling, they're more of a collision repair place, so I'll have to see.
So when i'm browsing around, what is the offset and all the numbers i need to know to find my rims? Because browsing around ebay, there are a lot that say different offsets and such, but i don't know what i'm lookig for, and if i did it'd be a lot easier to find the right rim.
thanks a lot guys!

Need a +40 for 8.5 in front and at least a +45 (+48 in standard) for the 9.5 rear, but you will have to roll the fenders. only cost about 100 bucks to roll fenders.

You should have titled the post better.
There are a couple off-the-shelf wheels that will fit 275s in the back with no fender rolling. One of the most common is the ROH Drift-Rs (which come in black with a polished lip, BTW). MANY people on here have them, do a search for pictures.

thanks for all the great info guys, really helps a lot.
I have always liked those drift r's, i'll start looking for them, for starters.
I never knew fender rolling was that inexpensive...maybe i'll give that a better look, how much of a roll would I need?
thanks again all of you that posted!

The only of the shelf wheels I can think of that are black with polished lips are the ROH Drift R. I don't want to go down that route, nice wheel, but very popular umong the GTO's.Now take a look at this http://www.jlinewheels.com/ They will custom make wheels to fit your car, takes like 2 months but they are very nice looking wheels and are 2 or 3 pc forged. (http://www.dtmkreuz.com/ same manufacturer different name for the Euro's, if you don't like the "jline" center cap you can get "DTM kreuz" center.) Since I came form an Infiniti G35 Coupe, I'm fond of this style of wheel. They Boyd's just don't do it for me. I was about to order my Jline 16RL3 18x8 fronts 18x9 rears (275 width fits great on a 9" rim) when I called a manufaturer (name will be released later) just for the F of it, and was told that they don't offer anything for the GTO, BUT they have been looking for a GTO to measure because they want to offer wheels for it. So they are flying in an engineer to measure my car Saturday to obtain the measurements and offer wheels that fit like a glove with the "fattest lip" possible (their words).
We'll see what happens.
