Well just as the title says. My first experience with a rear wheel drive car at the track. I can't launch the car for crap. The wheel hop was so so bad. Both temps at the track were in the upper 80's as well as the humidity at 88%. It had just finshed raining so the air quality was for ...you know.
My first pass I missed 4th and applied the brakes to coast in at 13.7@90mph.

The 3rd run was my best pass but the wheel hop is the killer!! I am granny shifting through the gears. The car is full weight as well with about an 1/8th of a tank of fuel. I have some vids, but I just got home. I'll post those tomorrrow evening.

Well, I believe your trap speed shows you got more in her. Nice job! :)

Awesome trap speeds (aside from the first throw-away, of course) - you're right on target to where I was (109) under similar conditions.
Get some of the M6 guys to coach you on the shifting and you'll be mid-12's easy. Then get the gears in and we may be meeting in the 11's.
Isn't it fun to be rocketing down the track at 109? :D
Can't wait to see the vids.

Yeah, I know there is plenty left in her. The track was empty from the rain. I could have run 10 times if I wanted to. My buddy has an 02 Camaro SS and we went to the track together. He ran 12.9 @111mph. His mods are as follows, maf, lid, filter, corsa catback, hooker headers, no cats, custom tune, throttle body, and a little weight reductions. He thinks he is checking in around 3300lbs. He put down 363whp and 353wtq. We went from a second gear roll mid way through 4th and I was able to put a car and a half on him. He said he was surprised that I wasn't trapping higher, but that's because he has a 450-500lb weight advantage on me.
I need to get rid of the stock exhaust and upgrade it to a real exhaust system as well as put an intake system on it. Then switch out the shorties for LT's and I think that will get me to 112mph. Gears might get me to 114-115mph. Then I'll be happy. For a while at least ;)

What coating did you get on your shorties out of curiosity?

Padre- I'm running the stock tires now. I had them at 25-28psi for the runs.
phobos512- I got the ceramic coating on the shorties. If you are intrested they will be for sale shortly.

I figure there is a 12.5 second pass in the car w/ traction. If I'm cutting 2.3 60' times and still able to run 13.2 If I could pull off a 1.7 w/ traction(drag radials/slicks) there is a 12.5-12.6 pass in the car. I would rather just add some more horsepower and go 12.90 @ 112-113mph though :)

Nice times & mph!
All you need is some more practice & you're in the 12's for sure...

Its entirely 60 foot times. Thats a 12 second car easy with those trap speeds. Great to hear that it worked out for ya and I let the guys at revx know it.

Probably won't be able to get em, much to my dismay (same goes for PadreGTO's intake goodies)...Damn IRS. Oh, I mean...Wonderful IRS. :secret: But do keep me informed of it when you are putting them up for sale k

Is your car bone stock? I seriously doubt it. I took my M6 to the track and got a 13.95 @ 101mph with slightly better conditions. :banghead:

How many miles on your car?
At what rpm did you shift your car?
God I hope your car is modified. If not, I'm gonna f*****g either shoot the car ( and I don't mean NOS ) or just sell it. I hate gettin the short end of the stick.
Aside from my  congrats on the e.t. and especially the trap speed. That's fast.

Nope Nikivee is uniquely his own.........

NikiVee went 13.3 bone stock. Just tire pressure change was the only thing he did from what I remember.

Yep. He had 20 PSI in the stock tires, but he's a highly experienced driver.
Those are some great traps, and more than respectable times considering the newness of it all. Nowhere to go but up.

I am kinda disappointed in those times with 381 rwhp. I guess I am still stuck on fbody times. Before the cams I had 340 rwhp with long tubes and intake in the z28 and pulled a 12.9x @ 110mph. The goat's weight is worth .3-.4 tenths. off an fbody time.

Spill, Nikivee - what is your approach to the first 2 seconds in your '04? Inquiring minds want to know...
Its not just the 60' time, although a major part, its the shifting of each gear. You can get up to a .5 second off your time by learning how to power shift. Never lifting off the gas and stabbing the clutch. It takes practice and hand/eye/leg coordination. But you'll be rewarded with a better time when its done right.
Its the only way to shift :driving:

I dunno, keepin it floored while @6500rpm and then jabbing the clutch and shifting.
You hafta be quick or you'll be dancing the rev limiter two step , if your lucky.

I thought the traps weren't bad considering I'm running a stock exhaust, cats, shorty headers, and full weight of the car. I'm going to be switching out to LT's and the exhaust should be here soon. It's getting out of the hole that's the problem. My buddy with his 02SS w/ 350-360rwhp was trapping 110-112 all night and I still pull him down on the street. I really think the gears are going to be the ticket.

My 2002 SS weighed in at about 3680 with no back seat and some other minor weight reductions... HP and 1/4 times are in my sig. I am running on a poorly maintained track though... :( Thought you might like it just for comparison.
